Last but not least, I wish to point out that Jamie Yeo is a VERY average person so don’t talk about her like she’s some kind of freak. How average is she? She lost her virginity at 18, the national average, and got married at 27, also at the national average age. Sexually, she is an average person, just like you and me

Of course she’s a celebrity and she deserves people scolding her, sorry la, that’s their line of business. Like what Tina Fey said at the recent Oscar’s “if you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet! You can find a lot of people there who don’t like you!”

I think to be accurate, these people found her leaking details of her sexual life “shameful”, rather than the act itself. On one hand, I admit that leaking your private life out in the public isn’t something I agree on, on the other hand, it’s just SEX.

I think Singapore’s society have been far too repressed when it comes to the topic of sex. It’s unhealthy for people to be repressed about something so beautiful and natural to us. Even Christianity, a very uptight community doesn’t find sex offensive. In fact, recently a Dallas pastor challenged married hetrosexual couples to a 7 days sex challenge. There’s no shame in the act of sex.

I know what some of you might be thinking at this point, Maia Lee’s sex life. But that’s not really the topic I want to go into, because her sex life is not really for us to judge.

I wish that the government would do more sexual education in Singapore schools, to educate these young little rose buds about the birds and bees.

It is the government’s responsibility to educate and mould a nation of people that practices safe sex and healthy living. I understand that Asian societies are more conservative when it comes to topics such as sex, but do we really want our society to make SEX into such an unspeakable topic that even healthy hetrosexual married couples have problems with their sex life and have no one to confide in because it’s too embarassing?

I’m not promoting for more SEX in this city. I’m against having pornography legalized for the same reason why I feel Cartoon Network should stop showing sleezy teen flicks that talk about sex all day when their target audience is mostly under 10years old.

Of course, it is difficult where to draw the line when it comes to such sensitive issues. But we should and we can definitely do more to bring awareness to topics related to sex such as contraceptives and HIV prevention.

However, single mothers that love their children would not harm their children on any level more than a typical nucleus family (a father and a mother) with problems. “Jia jia you ben nan yan zi jing” – everyone family has its own problems.

In Maia Lee’s pregnancy case, if you wish to blame Maia Lee for making the choice of potentially hurting her children, how about blaming the guys for knocking her up in the first place? And if Contender Asia contestant, Zidov, actually plays a father’s role in the child’s life, as he promised, then what is the problem? The kid will have a mother and father that does not live together, like millions of other families in the world.

What I’m disgusted at, however, is how people are critising Maia Lee for NOT going for an abortion. Who are these people to say “This baby is better off dead than being brought up by a perceived unfit mother”.

What’s wrong with you people? When we say women have the right to chose because it’s their own body, we gave them (us) the right to chose to abort the child OR keep the child.

If we can predict that the child would live an unhappy and unbalanced life, and thus feel that Maia should have aborted the child… then what about other cases whereby it is scientifically proven that the child would lead an unbalanced life?

Parents have a known congenital disease. They should not be allowed to have children so as not pollute our gene pool with defective humans? Parents that are retarded? Parents that are mentally or physically handicapped since they probably can’t give their children a “normal” lifestyle? So handicapped, diseased and retarded people should be sterilized by the government?

Are Singaporeans Nazis at heart? Do we really want to go down this slippery slope, feeling all morally high and mighty telling others to abort (some might say murder) their unborn child because they don’t approve of their mother?

Calling Maia Lee a whore for sleeping with a man she met for a few months… seriously.. if you really wish go hold a banner and stand outside the other known pubs in Singapore for men to get laid and women engaging in one night stands. And why aren’t we calling Zidov a bastard for sleeping with his girlfriend? I understand that we’re still an Asian society and that our traditional morals force us to put the blame on the women – a.k.a. it’s fine for men to sleep around with many women, he’s a Casanova. When women have sex with their boyfriends of one month, she’s a whore.

It’s just ridiculous the double standards especially when what we’re debating here isn’t about casual sex, it’s about men not getting the same kind of stigma as women even though they engage in similar or worse acts. Perhaps this is Singapore, and we all secretly love to read about these scandals in newspapers and magazines but are too ashamed to admit that everyone is doing it. We feel these people (like Maia Lee, Edison Chen, Gillian Cheung, Cecilia Chung etc.) should be shamed even though these are fellow humans that have only done human things – have sex.

Newspapers and magazines need scandalous headlines too to boost their readership too… I have to make an honorary mention to “Wan Bao”, the Singapore Chinese nightly newspaper. They come up with the juiciest headlines.

Unfortunately, I am also puzzled why CASE was allowed to hold a similar rally last year but SDP was denied the rights to hold such a rally and a little surprised at the police’s media release and the way they worded it.

This latest incident at Parliament House today saw an escalation in the level of defiance shown by Chee’s group; for the first time, the group staged typical militant protest methods of locking arms to resist arrest practiced by some protest groups in Western countries. The attack by Chee Siok Chin is also unprecedented and police are investigating into the matter.

They staged a typical militant protest methods? I am sure they arm locked each other AFTER being threatened to get thrown into a jail cell. Seriously, the police are scaring normal civilians like myself with their media releases…

Is Singapore a police state?

Wilful civil disobedience? Is this what they are calling protesters of political groups now? Scary.

We just have the urge to talk and gossip about the latest celebrity scandals because we have nothing better to do! Well, at least I have nothing better to do. After showing him the links to all the sex pictures of Edison Chen and Gillian and Cecilia, he’s finding a way to properly rip all the pictures to his computer. I have no idea why he even bothers keeping these pictures since we all know that the juicy videos will be out in a matter of time.

Would people find it strange that I’m so open about sex topics with my boyfriend? Sex doesn’t only involve men, it involves women as well! Don’t be mistaken! I’m not talking about lonely housewives complex – husband go around flirting online and jerking off to pictures… I’m talking equality of the sexes. Face it, we are girls, but we are homosapiens with the same kinds of needs as men. Let’s not divulge into further details….

Please don’t look stereotype women and only judge Gillian Chung or Cecilia Cheung for this sex scandal. I understand that Singapore is an Asian society where women are still classified as domestic, sexual or weak. If one has to say that these girls are shameless whores that like to video themselves, then you have to say that Edison Chen is worse! How can these people criticize the women involved in this scandal without taking into account that the person filming all these is Edison Chen!
