I guess many of you took my last post as a joke. Is it really funny?

Shadowfox is now posting my picture and calling me a dyke. I’m not homosexual NOR bisexual, but it doesn’t even matter whether I am. Why should it? I don’t have to be a homosexual to point out that ShadowFox is inciting hate in his blog, calling for people to stop befriending gay people, using derogatory terms to insult them, and producing nonsensical and unproven theories on how being gay is the end of the world.

People have been asking me for proof, that homosexuality is not a mental disease and that it is genetic. Here’s my reply.

I know that there aren’t any concrete proof for genetic influence in homosexuality, but scientist boils sexuality down to either by genetics or by environment. No where does it say that these people made a conscious choice to deviate from social norm and it is very wrong of you to liken “choosing to be gay” and taking up smoking. The debate is between whether there is a “gay gene” and environmental factors that might have caused homosexuality.

Many studies have shown that genetics have a part to play in homosexuality, just like how if you have a diabetic relative, you are more likely to become diabetic yourself as compared to others without a diabetic relative.

And even if it isn’t genetics, environmental factors such as bad upbringing, childhood problems, religious fanatic families, might potentially cause imbalanced personalities and homosexuality? No one knows for sure.

Sexuality is only a choice when you are bisexual. Then you can chose to either be with a man or with a woman, your choice. If you are homosexual, then you don’t have a choice at all! Just like if you’re a heterosexual.

Next, homosexuality isn’t a mental disease.

In general, research has failed to provide a basis for any of these concerns (Patterson, 2000, 2004a; Perrin, 2002; Tasker, 1999; Tasker & Golombok, 1997). First, homosexuality is not a psychological disorder (Conger, 1975). Although exposure to prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation may cause acute distress (Mays & Cochran, 2001; Meyer, 2003), there is no reliable evidence that homosexual orientation per se impairs psychological functioning.

Taken from American Psychological Association (APA)

Go on to read about how gay couples are NOT worse off parents that straight couples.

Also, sicarii, if you think my head’s not screwed properly because I “buy the lies of gay lobbyists”, I’m holding myself back not to stereotype all Christians as gay bashers since I know that they aren’t.

I guess it doesn’t matter to the religious bloggers reading my post since they don’t believe in sciences (such as Psychology) and chose to believe the words of a raving anti-gay moron.

Lastly, I CAN take his “alternative view”, infact it isn’t really an alternative view since many people out there are homophobic. I’m probably the one with an “alternative view” of homosexuality (along with American Psychological Association). I’ve said in my previous post, if you even read it, that I’m fine with homophobics. Someone mentioned that homophobia is a choice, and it’s really funny

What I’m against are gay-bashers, hate inciters, community polluters.

I quote from sicarii

What I’d agree with you, Deadpris, though, is that homosexuals are people too and deserve the same level of respect that is accorded everyone.

And “everyone” includes Shadowfox who should be free to express his views on homosexuality, though I hope he will do it in a more polite manner in future. At least someone has their head screwed on right and isn’t buying into the lies spun by the gay lobby.

I really don’t think you understand the meaning of hypocrisy. I respect that your religion is against homosexuality, but saying that I don’t have my head screwed on right, supporting the claims of Shadowfox’s blatant lies, then telling me homosexuals deserve the same level of respect? Yes, someone doesn’t have their head screwed on right and it sure ain’t me.

I’m not intolerating intolerance, essentially, I am intolerance against HATE.

Come, make another joke out of me.

I HATE people that incite hate.

Funny?

I, deadpris.com, am officially casting a vote to remove blogger, ShadowFox, from Ping.sg

He is using the community platform, Ping.sg, to manipulate and distort and propagade views of anti-homosexuality. Don’t give me the bullshit on freedom of speech, this IS Singapore and we have very little freedom of speech here in any case. And, we do not tolerate discrimination here.

Targeting a minority group, quoting websites that are obviously anti-gay and dubious “research data” to promote his agenda of how gays are “abnormal” and how “God hates fags”, honestly, we cannot expose this insensitive moron’s shit to the public, and especially, not in a friendly community such as Ping.sg

This guy isn’t even from Singapore, he’s from Malaysia (from what I gathered on his blog). Using Ping.sg to gather more readers for his anti-homosexual agenda is plain disgusting and repulsive because Ping.sg is essentially giving him a voice to promote hatred for the homosexual community.

I beseech Uzyn to remove this blog from Ping.sg so as to keep the integrity of the community.

What next? Are we going to allow crazy religious hate groups to be Ping-ed ? Do we seriously want to go down this slippery slope? Do we want readers of Ping.sg (many of whom are still young and have not formed serious opinions of the world) to be brainwashed by non-factual researches and words of hatred and discrimination?

Here are some answers to some objections I may potentially receive:

Yes, I can simply click on the “Hate” button and remove ShadowFox from my list of Ping.sg. But it does not change the point that there might be others out there that are susceptible to his brainwashing and take him seriously (he shouldn’t be taken seriously).

Yes, he has every right to blog about whatever he damn please. Uzyn has every damn right to remove any user from his website.

Yes, I know there are people out there that are homophobic, fine. The line is crossed when someone blatantly tells lies and discriminate against another group of people and infringe upon their rights as fellow human beings. You can go be a homophobic for all I care, you don’t have to “spread the words” of how homosexuals deserves to be crucified.

And to clarify, homosexuality IS NOT a mental disease (it used to be classified as a mental disorder many years ago). There is NO PROOF that homosexuality is a choice and not a genetic one. Homosexuals ARE HUMANS TOO.

One more point, his blog has been flagged by blogger.com to be of “OBJECTIONAL CONTENT”. How far can we tolerate this arsehole?

You don’t have to be pro-gay to vote to ban Shadowfox from Ping.sg, you just have to be humane and tolerating and understanding.

I was browsing through Wikipedia.org and I chanced upon a page on the Great Jubilee.

What caught my attention was the “Day of Forgiveness” – Pope John Paul II and other cardinals begged forgiveness from God for the sins committed by members of the Church, and particularly sins committed in the name of the Church.

Although I know that Catholics and Christians are generally peace loving people, I’ve always had the impression that most of them put themselves on a pedestal and it makes them look very hypocritical. Not to boast or anything, but I am definitely a very compassionate and forgiving person, and reading about “Day of Forgiveness”, I’m going to give one more reason why the Catholic church is better than Christianity.

Summary:
During the Great Jubilee, Pope John Paul II issued an apology for all the past sins of the Roman Catholic Church, dividing the sins into seven categories. Amongst general sins, sins in service of the truth, sins against Christian unity, sins against Jews, sins against respect of love, peace and culture, and sins against human rights, he also apologized for sins against the dignity of women and minorities.

It’s this sincere, non-political, non-hypocritical plea for forgiveness from the Lord that I really admire. I hope no one tries to debate that it is still political O_O

To repent, is to first admit mistakes were made. I’ve always argued that the Bible is full of sexist and racist text, but knowing that the church tries, it’s good enough for me. I hope that people critical of the Bible would oversee things that read on the Bible that might seem wrong in today’s context, and instead appreciate the real message in the Bible – Love and Forgiveness.

Forgiveness and humility are two of the seven traditional virtues :
Chastity (purity of soul)
Temperance (self-restraint)
Charity (giving)
Diligence (zeal/initiative)
Forgiveness (composure)
Kindness (admiration)
Humility (humbleness/modesty)

We need more virtues and lovess in this world. If everyone follows the mantra of “love thy neighbour”… everyone will love everyone… If only. Of course, I could go on and on, on a philosophical debate to why evil and pain are necessary, but maybe I shan’t.

I was talking to Ja-ne on the phone earlier and we were talking about random stuff… One topic that came up was two girls from our graduating class of 2000 of Methodist Girls School have passed away. This sparked the conversation of how fragile life is and where do we really go after we die.

Some possibilities (mostly based on major religious views):
1. We go to Heaven and… just be happy… somehow. (Ja-ne feels this is the worst option.)
2. We go to Hell and suffer for all eternity (I debated that Hell may be just a room with four walls and you’re trapped in that room forever)
3. We get recycled. Hah. I meant we go through the reincarnation process… in which we might end up a pig, a bird, or maybe a human.
4. Nothing. We disappear, we don’t exist, there’s nothing.

I think some part of the human psyche do not want to admit that there will be a day we truly cease to exist, hence most religions offer you a place to go dependent on your actions in your living life. Also, this serves as a protection as more humans would strife to do good for more people and help others. This in turn secures a spot for them in the “good place” aka Heaven after their deaths. That’s why I always say that humans are selfish, and they SHOULD BE selfish. If more people thought about retribution and heaven and hell, then less people will do harm unto others. Right?

I want my funeral to be one that is celebrated. My funeral should celebrate my life, my growing up, my pain I’ve endured, my loves. It should also celebrate that I have finally found the answer to: Where do we go after we die? or I might even solve the even bigger question of: Who are you God? (if there was even a God).

My funeral should have pretty pink flowers and roses and balloons and people smiling and crying. There should be a banner that prints “She finally found out!”, though it may be a little offence to some people. *sigh* After all, funerals are not for the dead, but for the living. Funeral is a place that allows the living to grief for their lost. I wish mine will be a celebration of “found”. Celebration of their found, out of the millions of people and yet we met by destiny, destiny that they are blood related to me, destiny that I have once gained their love. And of course, of me finding out the truth. Truth, is always so intriguing. Who knows, I might not even find the truth in my afterlife about my afterlife. The world is such an intriguing place. Therefore, we shall celebrate. =)
