I, deadpris.com, am officially casting a vote to remove blogger, ShadowFox, from Ping.sg

He is using the community platform, Ping.sg, to manipulate and distort and propagade views of anti-homosexuality. Don’t give me the bullshit on freedom of speech, this IS Singapore and we have very little freedom of speech here in any case. And, we do not tolerate discrimination here.

Targeting a minority group, quoting websites that are obviously anti-gay and dubious “research data” to promote his agenda of how gays are “abnormal” and how “God hates fags”, honestly, we cannot expose this insensitive moron’s shit to the public, and especially, not in a friendly community such as Ping.sg

This guy isn’t even from Singapore, he’s from Malaysia (from what I gathered on his blog). Using Ping.sg to gather more readers for his anti-homosexual agenda is plain disgusting and repulsive because Ping.sg is essentially giving him a voice to promote hatred for the homosexual community.

I beseech Uzyn to remove this blog from Ping.sg so as to keep the integrity of the community.

What next? Are we going to allow crazy religious hate groups to be Ping-ed ? Do we seriously want to go down this slippery slope? Do we want readers of Ping.sg (many of whom are still young and have not formed serious opinions of the world) to be brainwashed by non-factual researches and words of hatred and discrimination?

Here are some answers to some objections I may potentially receive:

Yes, I can simply click on the “Hate” button and remove ShadowFox from my list of Ping.sg. But it does not change the point that there might be others out there that are susceptible to his brainwashing and take him seriously (he shouldn’t be taken seriously).

Yes, he has every right to blog about whatever he damn please. Uzyn has every damn right to remove any user from his website.

Yes, I know there are people out there that are homophobic, fine. The line is crossed when someone blatantly tells lies and discriminate against another group of people and infringe upon their rights as fellow human beings. You can go be a homophobic for all I care, you don’t have to “spread the words” of how homosexuals deserves to be crucified.

And to clarify, homosexuality IS NOT a mental disease (it used to be classified as a mental disorder many years ago). There is NO PROOF that homosexuality is a choice and not a genetic one. Homosexuals ARE HUMANS TOO.

One more point, his blog has been flagged by blogger.com to be of “OBJECTIONAL CONTENT”. How far can we tolerate this arsehole?

You don’t have to be pro-gay to vote to ban Shadowfox from Ping.sg, you just have to be humane and tolerating and understanding.

“Pong cheating” is really that bad?

Can “pong cheating” be likened to the telephone voting system we use to pick the winners of Singapore Idol and the likes?

Ping.sg Top 10

Platform: Internet
Prizes: 24hours of “fame” and traffic, possibly monetary benefits from advertisers
Judging: Based on the interest of a community
Cheating Tactics: Have many Ping.sg accounts to “vote” for you
Cost: Logging in and out of Ping.sg
Result: Being called a slut

Singapore Idol

Platform: Television
Prizes: Fame, money, possibly endorsements and opportunities to an acting career
Judging: Based on the people that likes your singing
“Cheating Tactics”: Have all your relatives fork out a lot of money to keep voting for you. You could call and vote yourself too :)
Cost: Depending on how much are the calls & effort to keep pressing the buttons on your telephone
Result: Singapore’s Idol

I remember Joakim Gomez incident. No one thought his singing was good, even the judges had to tell his fan/family to stop voting for him to help him “save face”. Who cares that he can’t sing, in the end, he’s doing some acting stint with Mediacorp.

How about our very own Hady Mirza? Some might speculate that he won Asian Idol through his good looks… but are you sure? I suspect the votes came mostly from young teenage girls splurging money on him. I don’t think he was the best singing that night either.

Yes, the example given is not perfect since in Singapore Idol you are allowed to “cheat” and one person can vote multiple times whereas in Ping.sg top 10, votes are based on per reader.

And I’m getting a little sleepy, so I forgot my punch line I’m suppose to insert at the bottom of this post. lol.

This is my first Ping.sg gathering @ Decoders Cafe @ Balmoral Plaza.

I was invited after emailing U-zyn regarding my anti-virus detecting malware from Ping.sg (no, there’s no malware there!)

U-zyn was gracious enough to invite me along, so I thought why not. Sabrina was supposed to go with me since I don’t really know many people there. Sab did go, but she was late!

It was nice meeting people like Daphne (who has been giving me career advice on MSN), SimplyJean (very cunning card game player), U-zyn (boss) and the rest of the people.

I’m sorry I didn’t catch everyone’s name >,<

Independent Thoughts:
Most of the web hosting deals offer marketing plans as a free perk with the domain names. This is why majority starts on pay per click earlier.

I’m sorry if I didn’t click on the link. With regards to my anti-virus detecting a possible breach in security from Ping.sg in my earlier post…..

1. I did not say that the link is a VIRUS. I know what a Virus is, I studied 3 bloody years of IT, I should at least be able to differentiate between a virus and a malware.

2. Yes, I did say that my anti-virus detected malware coming from Ping.sg. Again, I’m calling it a malware – not a virus.

3. Yes, anti-virus often detect things that are malware and security problems when they actually aren’t. Which was why in my last post, I said -

If my Avast anti-virus was too sensitive and the malware was a false alarm, please let me know so I can apologize.

4. Obviously I had no clue to what was contained within that link. I did not click on it nor did I bothered to investigate. Who would purposely click on a click that your anti-virus flagged as a malware?!

5.I have checked on the definition of a malware – as adviced by Uzyn – and this is what I got from Wikipedia

Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner’s informed consent. It is a portmanteau of the words “malicious” and “software“. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.

6. A link can DEFINITELY lead to malware and spyware. Please do not listen to people that tell you it doesn’t. The internet IS a dangerous place !!! (esp. if you’re a IT-noob)

Lastly, I would like to say I am sorry that my post might potentially cause chaos within Ping.sg’s community. I did not intend for that to happen. However, I do not appreciate having Ping.sg’s owner coming to my blog telling me that I should go learn what a virus is (again, I did not say ping.sg got virus).

***UPDATED****

Pingsters have clicked on the link and verified that it isn’t a malware.
Avast anti-virus is just too sensitive. Too sensitive is better than not sensitive right? =)

pingvirus

Click on the thumb nail above to see the screen shot I took from my Avast anti-virus log file. I should have took a screen shot when the anti-virus popped up an alert to warn me.

middle part was editted because it caused unhappy people

On a side note, my friend Swordplay gave me a link to Hello Kitty MMORPG online game… it’s currently in beta. I’ve already signed up for the beta testing and I hope I get to test this cutesy new MMORPG!
