With a smart phone, it was naturally for me to want to install some cool applications to enhance my experience with the phone. LG launched it’s first phone application store with the LG Joy phone that features many different kinds of Windows mobile programs and games. The list of applications I bought from the store were:

Comex 2009 basically occupied the entire convention center from 1st to 6th floor and it’s full of gadgets, electronics, computers, and everything that a computer fair should have.

My hunt ended with:

When I was looking for a new headset, there were so many choices at Comex! Sennheiser and Audio Technica had booths there too, but they didn’t had any headsets that I liked and fit my budget. Monitors wise, I’m not sure why Samsung only brought in their top end monitors so most of Samsung monitors were out of my budget too.

The LG monitor I got was really worth it. 21.5inches, 2ms, Full HD 1080p 16:9 widescreen LCD monitor. Exactly what I wanted for a very very reasonable price. I love it!

It was love at first sight when I first saw this phone – the LG Crystal GD900. The Crystal’s see-through keypad is so awesome! The keypad not only functions as a normal keypad, it is also touch-screen. Meaning, the screen of the GD900 is touch-screen, and the crystal portion also works as a touchpad and can be used as a mouse to navigate! Another added feature of the Crystal is its Gesture Shortcut ability, by drawing pre-determined symbols on the touchpad, it will load the shortcut function that is assigned to the symbol you chose. Although, I’m such a klutz, I’m sure I’ll manage to somehow break it.

This is the LG Smartphone GM730. LG have many promising plans and strategies with the launch of LG’s very own Smartphone. Following the footsteps of their competitors, LG designed a Smartphone for users that wants more customizability and usability of their phones. The difference is that LG’s Smartphone aims to target users that are new to Smartphones with its intuitive user interface design. “You don’t have to outsmart your smartphone” approach. Another demographic that LG aims to reach are those that wants to use the Smartphone for more than just business.

LG will be launching their own LG store in Singapore and Australia after 14th July 2009. With it, thousands of applications will be made available, given the choice of free, free to try, and direct purchase. The bloggers will have the opportunity to download some apps before the 14th July!!! We’ll be ask to report bugs and give feedback on improving the store, what more, the best contributors get free credits to download apps!

After trying out the LG GM730, I felt there were many similarities between the LG smartphone and the iPhone. The interface is slightly different since the smartphone uses the S-cube interface and it also have a multi-tasking function that allows you to perform many functions at the same time. I guess I need to play around the phone more to experience the convenience of having a smartphone

Attending LG’s event, we got to see up close the really cool wine glass shaped speakers of the home theater system HT964PZ. This show stealer is retailing at S$799 and for such a cool looking set of speakers, the price is very reasonable.

This set is retailing at S$2999.

The other home system launched, with similar specifications, was the HB954SP, instead of looking like the two above sound systems, this set comes in an oval egg shaped speakers and front sub woofer, retailing at S$1999.

The phone comes in stylish touchscreen face with a QWERTY keypad that can slide out. Some new and improved features of the LG Prada 2 include 3G compatibility with video calling, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, a 5 mega pixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens, full HTML browser and Wi-Fi accessibility. The functions of the phone are rather similar to most new mobile phones out there now, messaging, pictures, games etc. but what really sets the LG Prada phone apart from its competitors is the sleek and stylish fashion accessory launched with the Prada phone – the Prada Link.

The Prada Link has a big enough interface to show messages, missed calls, caller IDs clearly, the watch still looks very stylish and reminds me of some futuristic gadgets you would expect to see on a science fiction movie. However, sadly, you won’t be able to answer your phone via the Prada Link. The Prada Link currently only works with the LG Prada phone, so if you’re bent on wearing this latest fashion statement, you’ll have to get the phone too! I won’t be surprised if people were to purchase LG Prada because of this watch.

At the LG Prada launch, Chang Ma – Vice President of Marketing Strategy from LG and Matteo Sessa Vitali – Licensing Director from Prada, did mention that this watch is made for both men and women. The watch does look quite adrogenous, and they did mention there would be straps that you can change to suit individual’s taste. However, I haven’t had the opportunity to see the different colour and sizes straps to judge if I would like any of them. The default black actually looks sleek and fits in with the futuristic theme! The watch’s core is made with stainless steel metal, with black leather band, and it is, very importantly, 3 ATM waterproof.

Overall, this marketing stunt is a brilliant one from LG. The Scarlet series was launch worldwide from 28 April to 2 May 2008 and everyone has been attending the party thinking it’s a TV series. The advertisement was cleverly scripted and like a true espionage, fooled everyone including myself! I’m so glad was invited to LG Singapore’s Scarlet premiere and had lots of fun~!

1. The place

It was held at a huge event room in the complex where the Singapore Flyer is. We were welcomed with red carpets, beautiful and tall models and a camera crew. I thought I was quite under-dressed since I came straight from work… Oh well. Many people that I came in eye contact with also smiled at me, I suspect I looked like some LG executive because of my working clothes O_O?

2. The people

I met celebrities like Wong Li Lin, Allan Wu, Irene Ang etc. , top boss of LG Singapore, and of course, many other bloggers like Daphne, Jean, Farinelli, DK, Jessica, Peggy, Nadnud, Ice-Angel, and of course, Sabrina! Oh, also got to meet Jarius from Comiqs.com, Alvin from omy and Gavin Foo from Fleishman Hilliard.

3. The food

I had… 2 plates of Pan-fried Wagyu Beef. Honestly, I feel Wagyu Beef is over-rated, but perhaps it’s because the tray of beef was directly under the air-conditioner…

I forgot to bring my blusher out so when I saw the glasses of red and white wine, I grabbed a glass and tossed it down my throat. Pink cheeks au natural

Mean while, the camera men went around taking pictures of the attendees and there was a booth where they printed card-size pictures and even laminated them! I love these cards!

4. The ride

It was my first time riding the Singapore Flyer. It is essentially, a huge, headache inducing, vertical, merry-go-round. haha

The cabins were very spacious and it even had 2 benches in the middle. Sabrina & Derek basically sat on the chair the whole time. Poor Sab was so reluctant to shift her butt to take pictures!

The rest of the bloggers, including myself, went on doing our bloggers business – taking hundreds of pictures of ourselves, other bloggers, the Singapore Flyer, and Singapore’s beautiful night scenery.

5. The goodies

We returned to the party after our 30 minutes snail ride, and we were welcomed at the door by Samantha with goodie bags! I love goodie bags because, I’m a Singaporean

Free = good!

Illness can be spread very easily in the office due to the small space and the cold cold air conditioner. I’ve been religiously taking my multivitamins, fish oil, vitamin C and a whole load of crap pills that is suppose to keep me healthy.

But as of yesterday, I feel restless and fatigue….

On a side note…. everyone’s been blogging about the new LG phone they received at the KS2o launch… Doesn’t it spark some envy >,<

On the other hand, if there’s a Sony Ericsson event where they give out free phones … I’ll kill to get invited! I don’t know if I would like LG phones better than Sony Ericsson… since… I never had a LG phone before.

Ah, no point pondering about phone or no phone. More than anything, now I want to get my hands on a PSP! My dearest Sean promised he would lend me his PSP next week..
