Are Singaporeans really so shallow  as to say things like “if he is gay, I don’t want him to represent Singapore” ???!!!?!??!

Even if you do not support the “gay agenda”, it does not mean that a gay person cannot represent your GRC better than a straight person. And BTW, just because someone is married to a woman, it doesn’t make that person straight as well. Who knows how many PAP members are homosexual? And seriously… who cares!

My point is, our representatives in the government should represent the general public. They come from different race, religion, social economical statuses (although most are rich), jobs, experiences, cultures, hobbies, and SEXUAL ORIENTATION. Please don’t be so stupid as to think that there are very few homosexual or bisexual citizens in Singapore. You have a huge majority of candidates that represent your rights as a hetrosexual, why would anyone be threatened by ONE potential MP? That ONE MP would not be able to rock any parliament votes. In fact, just because he is homosexual, that doesn’t mean he has to actively fight for gay rights in parliament at all!

You might have seen me talking a lot on gay rights and gay issues in my blog, this is not because I am homosexual or bisexual. I just feel that they do not deserve to be treated as lesser human beings.

I didn’t realise this before, Sabrina noted that some people might have been provoked by me mentioning that Singapore has no free speech. Some, silly people, might even feel that if I am against free speech that I should keep quiet and not voice my opinion.

I understand how the proposition “intolerant against intolerance” might sound ironic and funny, but being able to blog about my opinions does not mean that we have free speech.

According to Reporters Without Borders, Singapore is ranked 141 out of 169 countries in the freedom of press index. If you still don’t believe me, the Singapore opposition politically figures getting jailed and bankrupt should give you some hint. If you still don’t believe me, go blog racist and hate inciting blogs and see if you end up in jail like the 3 other foolish bloggers.

Now that we have established that Singapore does not have much freedom of speech, here’s why my post to call for Shadowfox’s head does not cross that line. My post simply called for a ban of a particular person, like how people can call for ban or unban of chewing gums, gay sex, pornography. It’s merely censorship. The religious people are usually pro censorship because the media’s censorship guideline has been slacking every year, and it reflects on how people’s morals have been more “tolerant” of sex, drugs, vulgarities and violence. I’m sure we don’t really want our children growing up accepting these vices as normal. Yes, perhaps showing too much homosexual themed media might brainwash the next generation that it is ok to be homosexual as well.

If there are still people out there, after reading this post, still think that Singapore has freedom of speech and if Singapore doesn’t that I should shut up, then I guess there’s no other way for me to enlighten you. -sigh-

Shadowfox is now posting my picture and calling me a dyke. I’m not homosexual NOR bisexual, but it doesn’t even matter whether I am. Why should it? I don’t have to be a homosexual to point out that ShadowFox is inciting hate in his blog, calling for people to stop befriending gay people, using derogatory terms to insult them, and producing nonsensical and unproven theories on how being gay is the end of the world.

People have been asking me for proof, that homosexuality is not a mental disease and that it is genetic. Here’s my reply.

I know that there aren’t any concrete proof for genetic influence in homosexuality, but scientist boils sexuality down to either by genetics or by environment. No where does it say that these people made a conscious choice to deviate from social norm and it is very wrong of you to liken “choosing to be gay” and taking up smoking. The debate is between whether there is a “gay gene” and environmental factors that might have caused homosexuality.

Many studies have shown that genetics have a part to play in homosexuality, just like how if you have a diabetic relative, you are more likely to become diabetic yourself as compared to others without a diabetic relative.

And even if it isn’t genetics, environmental factors such as bad upbringing, childhood problems, religious fanatic families, might potentially cause imbalanced personalities and homosexuality? No one knows for sure.

Sexuality is only a choice when you are bisexual. Then you can chose to either be with a man or with a woman, your choice. If you are homosexual, then you don’t have a choice at all! Just like if you’re a heterosexual.

Next, homosexuality isn’t a mental disease.

In general, research has failed to provide a basis for any of these concerns (Patterson, 2000, 2004a; Perrin, 2002; Tasker, 1999; Tasker & Golombok, 1997). First, homosexuality is not a psychological disorder (Conger, 1975). Although exposure to prejudice and discrimination based on sexual orientation may cause acute distress (Mays & Cochran, 2001; Meyer, 2003), there is no reliable evidence that homosexual orientation per se impairs psychological functioning.

Also, sicarii, if you think my head’s not screwed properly because I “buy the lies of gay lobbyists”, I’m holding myself back not to stereotype all Christians as gay bashers since I know that they aren’t.

I guess it doesn’t matter to the religious bloggers reading my post since they don’t believe in sciences (such as Psychology) and chose to believe the words of a raving anti-gay moron.

Lastly, I CAN take his “alternative view”, infact it isn’t really an alternative view since many people out there are homophobic. I’m probably the one with an “alternative view” of homosexuality (along with American Psychological Association). I’ve said in my previous post, if you even read it, that I’m fine with homophobics. I really don’t think you understand the meaning of hypocrisy. He is using the community platform, Ping.sg, to manipulate and distort and propagade views of anti-homosexuality. Don’t give me the bullshit on freedom of speech, this IS Singapore and we have very little freedom of speech here in any case. And, we do not tolerate discrimination here.

Targeting a minority group, quoting websites that are obviously anti-gay and dubious “research data” to promote his agenda of how gays are “abnormal” and how “God hates fags”, honestly, we cannot expose this insensitive moron’s shit to the public, and especially, not in a friendly community such as Ping.sg

This guy isn’t even from Singapore, he’s from Malaysia (from what I gathered on his blog). Using Ping.sg to gather more readers for his anti-homosexual agenda is plain disgusting and repulsive because Ping.sg is essentially giving him a voice to promote hatred for the homosexual community.

I beseech Uzyn to remove this blog from Ping.sg so as to keep the integrity of the community.

What next? Are we going to allow crazy religious hate groups to be Ping-ed ? Do we seriously want to go down this slippery slope? Do we want readers of Ping.sg (many of whom are still young and have not formed serious opinions of the world) to be brainwashed by non-factual researches and words of hatred and discrimination?

Here are some answers to some objections I may potentially receive:

Yes, I can simply click on the “Hate” button and remove ShadowFox from my list of Ping.sg. But it does not change the point that there might be others out there that are susceptible to his brainwashing and take him seriously (he shouldn’t be taken seriously).

Yes, he has every right to blog about whatever he damn please. Uzyn has every damn right to remove any user from his website.

Yes, I know there are people out there that are homophobic, fine. The line is crossed when someone blatantly tells lies and discriminate against another group of people and infringe upon their rights as fellow human beings. You can go be a homophobic for all I care, you don’t have to “spread the words” of how homosexuals deserves to be crucified.

And to clarify, homosexuality IS NOT a mental disease (it used to be classified as a mental disorder many years ago). There is NO PROOF that homosexuality is a choice and not a genetic one. Homosexuals ARE HUMANS TOO.

One more point, his blog has been flagged by blogger.com to be of “OBJECTIONAL CONTENT”. How far can we tolerate this arsehole?

You don’t have to be pro-gay to vote to ban Shadowfox from Ping.sg, you just have to be humane and tolerating and understanding.
