What’s a parallel universe?

Parallel universe or alternative reality is a self-contained separate reality coexisting with one’s own. A specific group of parallel universes is called a multiverse, although this term can also be used to describe the possible parallel universes that constitute physical reality. While the terms “parallel universe” and “alternative reality” are generally synonymous and can be used interchangeably in most cases, there is sometimes an additional connotation implied with the term “alternative reality” that implies that the reality is a variant of our own. The term “parallel universe” is more general, without any connotations implying a relationship, or lack of relationship, with our own universe. A universe where the very laws of nature are different – for example, one in which there are no relativistic limitations and the speed of light can be exceeded – would in general count as a parallel universe but not an alternative reality. The correct quantum mechanical definition of parallel universes is “universes that are separated from each other by a single quantum event.”

Ok, it’s basically another universe similar to ours, with just 1 single “quantum event” of difference. I could have decided to wear blue instead of pink clothes today, and something else would affect my life and the ripple effect continues to affect other things in the world.

Some crazy things to think about… what will I be like in a parallel universe if I did 1 thing differently in my life…

1. I’m famous celebrity (actually I think in another universe also very unlikely lah~)

2. I become a billionaire over night.

3. I end up as a prostitute in the streets. jia lat!

4. In a parallel universe.. I might live a longer or shorter life. Scary thought that there’s a Priss in another universe that passed away just minutes ago.

5. I’m worshipped as a goddess of some huge religious sect. HAHA

6. I might have become one of my many childhood ambitions… A singer, an architect, a professional dancer, a lawyer, a fashion designer, a mathematician…

7. I might have attained nirvana in some other parallel universe.

8. I might not have had a blog

9. I might have a blog that is even more popular than XiaXue

10. In an ideal world, I am happy, and everyone else are happy.

If theories of the parallel worlds are true, and that there are infinite number of parallel worlds and infinite number of possibilities for this world… then there MUST be one where everyone.. every single being.. is happy.

Unfortunately, we are stuck in this one. This one suck. Live with it. Stop complaining and whining about everyone around you and go do something for yourself. It IS that 1 action, or a chain of actions, that you can take to change your destiny. Perhaps this serves as a self-reminder.

Now I’m at the second last episode of Season 4 and the thought that next week I’m going to watch the very last episode of Season 4 makes me want to weep.

Now I find out that Doctor Who Season 5 will ONLY be aired in 2010 !

How am I going to live my life without the Doctor for almost TWO YEARS?! What more, rumours has it that David Tennant might not be playing the Doctor anymore If he regenerates (The Doctor is an alien, a Timelord, and he can regenerate!), then they will be casting another actor to play The Doctor. What next? A woman Doctor? A black Doctor?

HOW?

The episode that I just watched was mind blowing! The Doctor along with his past and present companions, Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Captain Jack, Sarah Jane and Donna Noble will all be joining forces in the war to fight the Darleks! The damn Darleks wants to “Exterminate” all human race (and other alien races) and The Doctor is the only person that can stop them! Go Doctor! *goose bumps*

In Season 3, Doctor Who ended the with a blast as well with the appearance of Cybermen versus the Darleks – they’re both arch enemies of the Timelords. It’s hilarious and the producers really know how to give the fans what they want!

I wish the series will never end.

I must admit beneath that silly act-cute girl, I actually am quite a geek. I love the science fiction genre – movies, books, dramas etc. Nothing beats a good sci-fi plot. It appeals to the existential person – everyone. I’m sure many of you have thought about “why are we here” and stuffs like that… the reason of being human, our place in the universe, our place in God’s Grand Plan. Although a little extreme, I’ve had many instances where I’m so tempted to kill myself just to figure out what happens next. Of course, I wouldn’t, since I would know after I die and I’m going to die sooner or later =D

I wish RPF would leave my boring little blog alone, go find your muse somewhere else… it’s getting boring already. Life is bigger than just.. well.. leaving nasty comments in people’s blogs.

Because of various reasons, I suspect I’m going to die rather young. Call it an obsession with death or what ever, but Death is really very intriguing, just as intriguing as Life itself.

Death does not discriminate you base on age or race or anything… I think it’s better if you’re prepared to die. I can’t say for sure I’m 100% ready to die, but at least it wouldn’t come as too big a shock if I do.. I’ve resolved many inner conflicts I’ve had on relationships, religion and my life… and I think my stay on Earth wasn’t that bad =)

Live Earth concert wasn’t too good/bad. I mean it’s just a bunch of people all over the world holding a big public awareness campaign. Will the world be a better place tomorrow? One can only hope (or save some plastic bags and recycle stuffs).

I love the Doctor! I’ve told my boyfriend, if the Doctor comes for me and offer to bring me around for space-time travel, I’ll leave with him immediately!

Doctor Who is by far the BEST television drama series I’ve ever watched in my entire life! Not a single disappointing or boring episode EVER.

Maybe it’s just me, I’m a geek at heart.

But I know, the possibility of something like an Doctor Who episode happening in my life is close to 0.0000000000000000001% . Nonetheless, we need dreams. Thank you, Doctor.
