The latest news on the China Milk Toxic poisonous milk scandal here in Singapore…

In total 8 products are tested to contain melamine, the toxin that has caused kidney stones and killed a few infants in China

Taken from Channel Newsasia

1. Yi Li Choice Dairy Fruit Bar Yogurt Flavoured Ice Confection

2. Dutch Lady Strawberry Flavoured Milk

3. White Rabbit Creamy Candy

4. Dutch Lady Banana Flavoured Milk

5. Dutch Lady Honeydew Flavoured Milk

6. Silang – House of Steamed Potato – Potato Cracker

7. Puffed Rice Rolls – Butter Corn Flavour

8. Puffed Rice Rolls – Cheese Flavour

It wouldn’t be surprising if the number of China milk infected products increases since so many products uses MILK.

I’ve always suspected that the cows have some kind of conspiracy against humans. Or perhaps, some alien creature planted cows on Earth to slowly torture and kill us all… haha…

Do you know?

1. Over 90% of Asians are lactose intolerant. We can’t digest milk. We get bad bad stomach when we drink milk. The cows are trying to diarrhea us to death! Source: Wikipedia

2. Cows produce harmful methane gases. They are trying to destroy our ozone layer! Source: National Geographic

3. Cows are making themselves to be god! Ok, sorry it’s just a joke, no offense to any Hindus reading this.

So, yeah, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the cows have some kind of conspiracy theory or some revenge plot for us enslaving them, milking them for milk & meat.

BTW, my chinese zodiac sign is OX! I love cows, I love beefs, I just don’t like milk

Because China and the United States competed on the same events each rotation, it was easy to notice differences in their body types. The Chinese gymnasts lack curves, have an average height of 4 feet 9 inches and weigh an average of 77 pounds. Deng is the smallest, at 4-6 and 68 pounds. The women on the United States team, generally more muscular and shapely than the Chinese, are an average of 3 ½ inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.

Taken from The Times

Seriously?

I’m not sure if these girls are above 16 years old…. but we’re Asians! We’re small, thin, petite, even though I’m not. We’re generally of a smaller built! The Chinese girls are about 1.5m and 35kgs, which is actually not very rare for Asian women. The Americans are about 1.58m and 43kgs, which is roughly the average weight of my female friends. Heck, I know guys as thin as that. To be a gymnast, you’ve got to be small and agile, and is it surprising that a small Asian is smaller than a small American?

Look, I wear Large or X-Large sized clothes in Asian countries, but I’m a Medium or sometimes even a Small when I shop in countries with a dominant population of Caucasians. When I was a teenager, I had a secret desire to go for boob job to make them smaller just so I can fit into those pretty small little clothes from Far East Plaza. Whatever. Asians in general are less curvy than westerners, and they biologically smaller in size la.

China’s coach gave a very good rebuttal…

China’s coach, Lu Shanzhen, bristled when the age issue arose again on the day his gymnasts had upset the Americans, the reigning world champions. He would not explain Deng’s missing tooth.

“It’s unfair that people keep saying the Chinese are too young to compete,” Lu said in Mandarin, on his way out of the National Indoor Stadium. “If they think they can tell someone’s age just by looking at them, well, if you look at the foreign athletes, they have so much more muscles than the Chinese. They are so strong. Do you then say that they are doping?”

These people should stop speculating and just go find evidence of the underage China gymnasts. Although I won’t be surprised if they find that they are really underage, just like how we aren’t surprise many of the top athletes takes drug or cheat in whatever way possible.

Ok, so I have settled booking for ChengDu’s accomodation with Sim’s Cozy Hostel. Apparently, this hostel is run by a Singaporean man and his Japanese wife. I think it’s good to trust people from your hometown when you’re overseas, so I guess staying there would be best.

I still can’t decide whether we’ll be going to Jiu Zhai Gou and Er Mei Shan, but the tour desk of Sim’s Cozy told me that it was ‘cold season’ for traveling and it shouldn’t be a problem to book the tour when we reach ChengDu. Again, I’m a control freak and I like to plan ahead… but I guess we’ll just have to follow the flow.

It was like that Sydney trip me and my boyfriend took. We bought the tickets online, booked a hostel, two days later we were on a ten hour overnight coach ride to Sydney (departed Melbourne). With no plans, no idea where to go or what to do… we ended up staying in a hostel in Sydney’s red light district – King’s Cross. It’s not as rowdy as Singapore’s geylang, but it sure was colourful at night!

The backpacking culture in Australia is seriously awesome, there’s a very good system in place for all you backpackers wanna-be. Basically, at the train station or Airports, there will be stacks of tourist information for all the attractions. Most of the places are very accessible by public transport, so you don’t even need to rent a car or join a tour. Aussies are generally very tourist-friendly, which is why even though I’m a student in Melbourne, I always pretend I’m a tourist to get better service

Everyone should go Australia to backpack at least once. There was this German guy we met in Sydney that rented a car and toured the whole of Australia for almost one year! Of course, he had to work odd jobs to support his adventure. Some students even help clean the hostels to earn some money for accommodation as well as traveling money.

In a nut shell… Australia ROCKS… only if you’re traveling there. It’s a shitty place to live in unfortunately.

Ok, I’m in a rush preparing for my China/Hong Kong trip… so I don’t think I’ll be updating so much for the next few weeks…

I’ve been planning for the past 3 weeks on flights and accommodation for the trip and possibly hundreds of dollars spent calling hotels and tour information to China. I’m a planning freak. I like to plan everything ahead. I see it as a positive trait and it makes me feel prepared.

So I’ve booked the hotel in Xi’An via www.elong.net . This website is pretty cool because it allows you to book without making any payments. I actually called elong.net‘s hotline to inquire about a few hotels and they gave excellent advice (although I spoke to them in Mandarin because their English really ‘cannot make it’). I also booked the domestic flights from elong.net because it was the cheapest amongst the other China domestic flights websites. For those who might be interested to purchase China domestic flight tickets online, you should purchase these tickets about 1 week before the flight. There should be available seats unless during the peak period, and it’s really cheap. If you purchase the tickets more than 2 weeks in advance, then you would be paying the full price.

I’m still trying to find out more about hostels in ChengDu because we intend to travel to a few places within that province.
Please let me know if anyone have information regarding ChengDu accomodation and tours… Thanks!
