Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with behaving like an aunty - if you’re over 40years old, with kids, possibly retired or a housewife, likes hanging out with other women like yourself in your neighbourhood market place or hang-outs like kopitiams, playgrounds, supermarket… I’ve got lots of respect for such “aunties” because they are your mothers, relatives (real aunts), your retired teacher… and basically your average elderly women.

HOWEVER.

I’ve spotted a NEW KIND OF AUNTY!!!

I’m sorry that I have an urge to blog about Singapore’s favourite drama - Xiaxue versus Dawn Yang. I can’t help it, simply, because, I overheard other e-aunties blogging about this.

So what do you do when you overhear a juicy piece of scandal, drama, gossip? You pass it on like a hot potato!

Yes! We have to keep blogging about how these scandals are so scandalous. “Aiyoh… how… Xiaxue might get sued leh!”, “So that Dawn Yang really very fake ah?”, “Actually both these siao char bohs equally fake lar!”.

Damn right they are fake. It’s a BLOG for goodness sake.

I’ve also noticed the increase in number of Pings and Pongs in Ping.sg, a locally based blog aggregator… wonder whyyy…

This Ping Market seems to be attracting more aunties to our big gossip mongering family! Ah, the last time we had such a big party was during the Edison Chen sex scandal. Remember that (lots of traffic!)?

While you’re here in this bustling market, feel free to buy some fish or vegetables. Or, you could even dig out some old rumours about Jean and her molestation blogpost gone wrong!

Ah. Don’t we all love scandals and gossips.

Editor’s note: Please take this piece with a pinch of salt, I really don’t like gossiping for the sake of making other people’s lives miserable but I couldn’t curb my inner-aunty.

Now I’m at the second last episode of Season 4 and the thought that next week I’m going to watch the very last episode of Season 4 makes me want to weep.

Now I find out that Doctor Who Season 5 will ONLY be aired in 2010 !

How am I going to live my life without the Doctor for almost TWO YEARS?! What more, rumours has it that David Tennant might not be playing the Doctor anymore If he regenerates (The Doctor is an alien, a Timelord, and he can regenerate!), then they will be casting another actor to play The Doctor. What next? A woman Doctor? A black Doctor?

HOW?

The episode that I just watched was mind blowing! The Doctor along with his past and present companions, Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Captain Jack, Sarah Jane and Donna Noble will all be joining forces in the war to fight the Darleks! The damn Darleks wants to “Exterminate” all human race (and other alien races) and The Doctor is the only person that can stop them! Go Doctor! *goose bumps*

In Season 3, Doctor Who ended the with a blast as well with the appearance of Cybermen versus the Darleks - they’re both arch enemies of the Timelords. It’s hilarious and the producers really know how to give the fans what they want!

I wish the series will never end.

Watch The Last Comic Standing season 5 & 6, made me think, it’s not true when people tell you that no one enjoys their job. Some people dare to pursue their dreams, and only a few succeeds. Sad, but true.

Perhaps attempting to search for the ideal job is not easy, takes a few trial & errors, many don’t even come close to finding the perfect job but they just swallow it anyway. Luckily for me, I still have time for trials and for errors, and maybe, I’ve erred on this first try.

What to do.

We arrived at Singapore Expo at 2pm even though the agreed meet up time was at 1.45pm, and yet we’re one of the early ones there! Next time when anyone wants to hold any outing for bloggers, be sure to ask them to meet up one hour earlier so they’ll be on time!

Gavin Foo graciously arranged for a mini tour around the exhibitors, mostly technology and communication companies. LG even had a mini show with Korean dancers dancing to the tune of a LG advertisement-like show. Mostly, the focus of the LG booth were on their latest mobile set - The Secret.

I must say that LG has pretty good marketing strategies and actually tries to set themselves apart from other big mobile brand names like Nokia and Sony Ericsson. The Secret sounds like a really cool and mysterious phone

Weird thing was when I showed my ex-colleague (the intern) the pictures, he exclaimed “Woah, how come all your friends so pretty!” LOL! Somehow I got the feeling he was referring to my friends, and only my friends, not me

True enough, nadnut pointed out that my foundation looked very tanned that day and it was because I wanted to try a new foundation in hopes that my makeup wouldn’t smudge half way through the event. Alright, my make-up stayed the whole day, in the WRONG SHADE! Another thing I realised is even though I personally find the gorgeous and young bloggers beside me to look very nice in their pictures, I thought initially that their make-up was a little too much for their age. I’m wrong! You have to put more make-up, darker eye liners, glossier lip gloss to look good in pictures! Especially in these events that are always indoors and no natural lighting, it’s essential that every blogger (female) should wear more make-up.

I need a recommendation for a good, easy to use, smudge free eye liner. Please advice

Some people feels that if you accept any money, that you owe something to them, it’s called fair trade? How about when people are donating for charity? Do they expect the poor and the sick to be indebted to them and owe them something?

I had a friend who had a crazy boyfriend, and when they broke up, he went insane(er) and even tried to stalk her. One night she was out with me and we were going to go clubbing to celebrate her ditching the loser. Lo and behold, the creep was stalking us! I confronted him and asked him to go away and stop following her but instead, he shouted in my face vulgarities and disgusting words. Luckily my friend pushed him away or he would have hit me. The next thing to do was of course to get as far away from him as possible, so we hurled a taxi. That creep took another taxi and followed behind us! So I told the taxi to drive us to the nearest police station.

The police took the two of them to separate rooms and questioned the both of them. (more…)

Joss Sticks is the name of Ms Celine Loi’s tuition centre, where at least 20 students walk in every weekend to work on their maths. The full-time tutor of eight years has about 80 students under her charge now, each paying $60 a lesson.

The maths guru earns a five-figure monthly income from tutoring. News of her centre spread by word of mouth and also through her website (www.exam papers.com.sg).

The interactive webpage of the 33-year-old, who is single, is laced with humour. For example, students can avail themselves of her services for the ‘effective prevention of last-minute Buddha foot-hugging syndrome’, a Chinese idiom for last-minute exam cramming.

I love technology, new gadgets, computers, IT, geeky things………………………….

I don’t like…

1. The crowd. It’s always so damn crowded!

2. The price. It’s really not worth buying LCD monitors and other gadgets for $10 cheaper. I attended a PC show at Expo a couple years back and bought 2 LCD monitors that are $10+ cheaper than those in Sim Lim (nothing else was really cheap there by the way). I had to take a $20 taxi back home. So I didn’t actually save much money.

3. There’s too many things to see. Perhaps good for window shopping (pun!). But I can’t take my time to compare products and specs like I usually do either online or at Sim Lim Square. Also, us girls can’t ever make up our minds.

4. Do you find that at these fairs, the people tending the booths are either not serving customers and talking amongst themselves, or, they are trying to serve too many people and cannot attend to you properly. So I get really frustrated and walk off.

5. I like to buy old technology. Yes, I’m a cheapo. I see something I like and I buy it one year later. Why? Because one year later, it’s half the price. I’ve been tempted to buy a handheld and I still can’t decide between PSP or Nintendo DS Lite and the price is already more than half the price cheaper than when it first surfaced in the market 10 years ago (I’m exaggerating)

Ok, only 5 reasons why I wouldn’t want to go to another PC show/fair/expo again. I guess it’s 5 good reasons not to waste my time there.

Lately, there have been quite a few scandals and criticisms on what is posted on people’s personal blogs. Yes, a blog is a medium whereby ‘commoners’ like me and you can act out our inner fantasies of being a journalist or even a tabloid magazine writer, or perhaps to an extend, an online biography of yourself But blogging about your family or your work or even friends is just plain insensitive and inconsiderate.

Why people shouldn’t blog about their work:

1. Blogging ANYTHING that casts your company in a bad light is disloyal and to a more serious extent, treacherous.

2. Blogging about your clients/customers is very unprofessional.

3. Blogging about your co-workers is worse than point 2, because you never know who’s reading your blog. Creating more backstabbing publicly would cause more unhappiness at work and possibly affect the morale of your colleagues. Not to mention, no one would trust you with their secrets at work incase you blog about it.

4. Blogging about your boss is simply stupid. Your boss should fire you for that.

5. Disclosing private and confidential information about your clients, co-workers, boss, HR, cleaning aunty, is simply rude and disloyal.

6. Disclosing your companies’ secrets should/might warrant you a lawsuit.

If you really need an outlet to relief your stress, work place gossips, complaints… go whine at your girlfriend/ boyfriend/ teddy bear. Don’t wash your dirty laundry in public and risk getting sacked, in other words, don’t be stupid.
