For women, hair care is definitely an important part of our beauty care regime. By hair.. I do mean the removal of unwanted hair…

Two years ago, I purchased my first epilator! It’s a really incredible device that plucks your hair out in a bunch. Ouch? It takes a few times of hair removal to get used to having hair plucked out this way, but with regular usage, it’s actually quite painless as compared to other hair removal techniques.

I really really love my Panasonic ES-WD51-P epilator. This cordless device can be used in the bathroom while you are bathing! You can epilate dry or wet, and I usually put some liquid bath soap on the epilator to create some foam, before rubbing it up and down my legs. Pros of using the epilator would be: 1 time cost, relatively clean way of hair removal because you can do it in the shower, using bath foam as lubricant makes the process less painful. Cons of using the epilator: not suitable for all areas (I only use it for my legs and occasionally under arms), need to remember to charge your epilator!

For other more delicate areas of my body, I would definitely opt for waxing! Waxing can be quite costly over a long period of time and generally quite painful at those delicate areas, but if you find the right salon and right wax therapist, it can still be a comfortable affair. I’m currently considering to go for Strip! because I went for one of their trials and it was really the LEAST painful wax I’ve ever had! Too bad I still have package with another salon to complete (and that salon is cheap and fast and DAMN painful).

For my underarms, I recently saw this promotion from Musee Platinum Singapore IPL that has an on-going promotion for new members at $138 for UNLIMITED times of underarm IPL hair removal. If you quote my membership number: 81003995 , you will receive a freebie! (I will receive a freebie too for referring you~) So far I have been there twice, and the effect is pretty good! There is still hair growth, but I now have to shave or epilate my underarms once a week instead once every 3 days like before. Of course, the effects of IPL varies from person to person, as any hair removal therapist would tell you… But for $138 UNLIMITED underarm removal is a really really good deal! They aren’t very pushy with their other products so I don’t feel pressured to go there. Although it is for unlimited number of sessions, one can only do the hair removal once every two months. They explained it’s due to the hair growth cycle, but perhaps they don’t want their schedule to be fully booked as well!

63377273 Parco Millenia Walk or 67358511 at Centrepoint, Orchard Road to make a reservation now. Remember to quote my member number for freebie!

After all the different ways of hair removal, the AFTER hair removal care is equally as important! I received some products for review last month and I decided to try them out

Hanamei® is specially formulated with only natural Japanese plant ingredients. Each botanical extract is carefully chosen and blended together to care for your delicate skin. Free from alcohol, artificial preservatives and colourants, the Hanamei® Intimate Beauty Treatment range provides instant relief after any hair removal therapy and ensures that your skin stays healthy, smooth and fair naturally over time.

Hanamei Hair Removal After-care Brightening Serum

The Serum smells really floral and refreshing. I applied it as and when I remembered on my legs and my underarms for a couple of weeks. The serum is suppose to give you brighter and smoother skin, but I didn’t really notice a great effect. What I noticed however, was that in the past month, I don’t have a single ingrown hair! That’s a huge deal because ingrown hair can be red, bumpy and really uncomfortable

The Hanamei® Brightening Serum contains multiple botanical actives to minimise ingrown hair and lighten darkened skin caused by hair removal and micro-abrasion especially at the underarms, elbows and kneecaps.

Naturally fragranced with organic Rosewater, this serum is infused with skin-nourishing natural actives that are easily and quickly absorbed for more radiant, moisture-charged and beautiful skin.

Use the Hanamei® Brightening Serum to:

• Maintain elasticity and resilience of skin

• Minimise ingrown hair

• Lighten the appearance of skin darkened by hair removal and micro-abrasion

Hanamei Hair removal After-care Comforting Mask

The mask is actually for after care for hair removal of the delicate ladies part! The mask is folded nicely in each individual packet, and when you unfold it, it spreads nicely in the nether region. It really feels very moisturizing and my skin feels smooth and the mask smells great too!

The Hanamei® Comforting Mask is specifically designed and formulated to provide instant relief and care for delicate skin in the bikini area that has undergone hair removal therapies.

Use the Hanamei® Comforting Mask to

• Soothe and minimise skin soreness

• Reduce redness and skin irritation

• Protect skin against follicle and pore infection

The website will be launched soon and orders can be made only via the phone or email then for the time being the distribution channels are not confirmed yet.

I don’t usually find skinny skeleton thin women to be attractive… Until I watched Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3. And the winner is… Alice Burdeu! She’s so gorgeous omg.

I’ve watched most of the America’s Next Top Model seasons and I was looking for something new to watch online, so I started watching the Australia version… and I must say that I really like Australia’s Next Top Model! Initially, watching Cycle 5 made me cringe… Its first 3 episodes were sooooo full of bitch fights and back stabbing that I really couldn’t bare to watch. I even twittered multiple times that the show reminds me of a “model version” of Big Brother – which I really disliked. However, after the bitching are done, when there are about 5 contenders in the competition, business starts to get really serious. The show is more realistic in a sense; models are made to do really difficult and exciting shoots. I’ve watched season 3, 5 and 6 so far and I’m really loving it. The America’s version has alot of “show” factor to it, but the Australia one is more candid and harsh.

Back to the topic. Alice Burdeu is simply so awesome. She reminds me of Ann Ward, America’s Next Top Model Cycle 15 Winner

But Ann looks a little mean to me. I was rooting for her to win too btw!

Alice Burdeu…. is just so hot. The only way I can ever become nearly as thin as her is if I become anorexic! Damn these models and these modeling shows! Now I understand why little girls want to become anorexic!! It’s because of evil beautiful girls like Ann and Alice!!!!!

Wow Wow. Looks like another women came out to confess she had an affair with Jack Neo a few years ago, Foyce Le Xuan – what kind of name is that ?! It’s like voice but with a V. Strange.

According to AsiaOne’s Shin Min Daily News reported that there have been 11 women Jack Neo has been sleeping with. He really find “women not enough” right? Apparently, some of them slept with him to get bigger roles in the filming industry.

You know what, after this news is leaked, I bet there will be many fame crazy girls trying to sleep with Jack Neo. All these girls, including Jack Neo, should get themselves checked for STDs and HIVs. Once upon a time, we ignorant Singaporeans thought that only the Hong Kong and Hollywood filming industries were covered with so much dirt and sex scandals, apparently it has been happening in Singapore too.

When Edison Chen leaked his sex scandal videos, he had such a negative response that he had to flee the country. I’m wondering now… why Singaporeans are not boycotting Jack Neo’s films? Previously, his wife said she will close one eye about his affair… My guess is, she has been closing two eyes.

I’m one of the lucky few (hundreds) of people that got to be at the opening of the Universal Studio theme park in Singapore yesterday. We got the tickets because we knew a certain someone but the point is… Tickets to view the unopened rides in the theme park has already been sold out for the whole week!!

I was surprised at the overwhelming response to viewing the unopened resort and theme park, but perhaps not so since many were eager to view Singapore’s casino. Singaporeans visiting the casino would have to pay $100 per 24 hours umnlimited entrace into the casino but that did not deter gambling hungry and curious visitors. The casino area was completely packed!

The rides and entertainment areas seems promising. To be honest, I think it’s definitely a better theme park than disney land in Hongkong! I can’t wait for the rollercoasters to be opened! That’s right, there’s 2 Battlestar Galactica themed roller coasters – the human and cylons!

Food in the theme park were reasonably priced with many variety of food to pick from under $10 budget. I guess the most expensive part of the trip was the parking. Parking at most hotel resorts in Sentosa’s casino and theme park area is $7 for 1st hour and $2 every hour thereafter.

I had a great time at Universal Studio’s soft launch and I really can’t wait for the theme park to be fully operational!

I attended a beauty seminar held at Paragon Medical Centre by Dr. Z from Z Medical Aesthetics. Dr. Z explained to us why fillers like Juvederm® and Botox® are becoming more popular amongst women nowadays. The cost of “fixing” one area of your face costs about $900 for a temporary fix that lasts from 4 months to 1 year depending on the area for fillers and 4 months for Botox®.

Juvederm® Fillers, being self-explanatory, fills up areas of your face e.g. nose, cheeks, lifting certain areas of your face up to prevent having any saggy baggage. While Botox®, as most of you would know, can help to contour jawline and remove wrinkles. Dr. Z assured us that he tries to use these injections minimally to help create a beautiful new look without looking too plastic or fake. Some people looks great with a little wrinkle around the eyes and forehead, so please don’t go plastic your face like a barbie doll letting everyone know it’s all fake. In Singapore and in some countries, plastic surgery still comes with some stigma, so doing too much surgery to your face actually makes it less appealing.

With temporary injections, you don’t have to worry about not looking good with your new face. Fillers are reversible, and if you really prefer to have more wrinkles on your face, then you’ll just have to wait 4 months to get back your wrinkly face :p The stuff they inject into your face for are made from hylauronic acid, which is a kind of acid that is naturally found in our body, so it is minimally intrusive.

Two bloggers that were invited for a demonstration feedbacked that they loved their new features, one said it was relatively painless while kisscakee feedback that it hurts but it’s so worth it! The results were instant! Dr. Z mentioned that the swelling and effects from Botox® would be more obvious after 2 weeks. But they looked really great just minutes after the injections! There is practically no down time!

Those who know me for years, know that I’ve always have had a weight/size issue. Even at my peak of my schooling days activities, I’ve always had a problem with The Bulge. I have tried to be on diets, eating healthy and exercise in the past, but even if I got a little thinner, my tummy doesn’t seem to want to disappear!

A couple of years ago, I signed up for a slimming program with my friend, it cost a few hundred dollars. They wrapped me up in some hot blanket and massaged oil on me. After a few sessions, there were no significant changes be it in my weight or size. I was freaking disappointed! I was still a student then and a few hundred dollars was alot to invest in, especially into something that didn’t show any results! I concluded that all slimming centers were hoax.

Last week, I got the chance to visit Cenosis, one of the leading slimming centers in Singapore, for a short tour. It was quite exciting because I got to meet Xiaxue there! I’ve seen her on other blogging events, but this is the first time talking to her in person, and she left me with a better impression that I had expected. She was witty, interesting and nice We were shown around the slimming center and listened to a group of professionals talk about the difference between Cenosis and other slimming centers in Singapore.

It came as a shock to us, when we were shown evidence of how other slimming centers in Singapore actually use misleading labels and bombastic tech jargon to lead the public into believing in what they are selling. One article even gave the description of Cenosis’s latest machine technology called Cavitation, but it was obviously a misleading advertisement since you need a N2 license from NEA to own that machine and it can only be operated by doctors and physiotherapists. Since Cenosis is confident to be the only slimming centre to have that license, besides other aesthetic clinics in Singapore, then how can these other slimming companies advertise about something they don’t have? Apparently, since there is no board of governance in Singapore for the slimming industry, many slimming centers use misleading advertisement to trick consumers into buying packages for inferior treatment and services.

I was given the opportunity to test out the Cavitation machine for about 40minutes on my tummy area and the results could be seen almost immediately! After measurement, I lost roughly 3cm around my stomach area within 40minutes. Wow.

How the Cavitation works?

Why the Cenosis people are so proud of owning this machine, is because other inferior machines are not able to penetrate into the fat cells area and Cenosis is the first and only slimming centre to own this medical machine.

I laid on the bed for about 40minutes, while a certified physiotherapist used the Cavitation on me, and through out, there was no pain or discomfort. However, there was this loud buzzing sound that came from within my body. I asked the ladies if they could hear the buzzing sound as loud as I did, but apparently I was the only one who could hear it that loud since the machine was passing it through my body. It was really weird.

The ladies servicing me were very polite, and the ambiance of the entire place was very cozy. You could even bring your own CD and play in your assigned room. We were shown to the steam bath, jacuzzi and sauna rooms, where their customers can relax and enjoy the whole spa experience.

Lastly, we were offered a healthy meal cooked by the resident nutritionist! It was so shocking to see a little kitchen and dining area inside a slimming center!

What’s for dinner?

The juice was a blend of honeydew and plum, freshly blended with all the fiber still intact. Dinner was briyani rice with fish curry and vegetables. I LOVE healthy food. Seriously. I love without skin, without fat, without complicated sauces in them. I suspect I ate the most during the dinner, probably cause I’m the most greedy there too =x

I’m really looking forward to the tour of Cenosis’s Glass House Challenge 2009 that would be held in Suntec Gallreia Square (Outside City Link Exit) between the 17th July to 11th August 2009. They will be having some contestants living and displaying their weight loss process in a glass house! One of Nuffnang’s blogger Winnie will be taking part in the challenge too, so stay tuned to see how she loses weight!

Not that I am a regular visitor to that site *twiddles thumb*

Usually, I am directed to the site when there are juicy scandals, sex scandals mostly. But Gutterpost has the most comprehensive collection of sex scandal pictures, including reports, insider’s information, and other interesting information not of use to me. It’s like the best and most popular internet tabloid site ever! Listed on Alexa as Singapore’s TOP blog, as well as Blogger’s TOP blogging site, it would be a mistake if Blogger were to terminate Gutterpost’s account!

Daphne Ang, featured on Gutterpost a while back, nude acrobatic pictures O_O Shocking.

I’m going to be somewhat a hypocrite here and say.. I don’t support Gutterpost’s distribution of private and personal information and pictures, who knows, some day you or I might end up on Gutterpost! That thought scares me. On the other hand, it is a very informative (in some perverted ways) and interesting site to visit OCCASIONALLY. Do everything with moderation k! *stares at friend that is frequent visitor of Gutterpost*

Don’t tell me Singapore police/government finally did something, and appealed to Blogger to bring the site down?

For the sake of you wankers out there (pun intended), hopefully Gutterpost backs up his stuff.

Sigh. I’m happy thinking about all the delicious wonderful food I’m going to eat, and sad thinking about getting fat

The week of decadence starts tonight, going to Pinetree club’s Chinese restaurant, followed by tomorrow’s New Years Eve steam boat dinner at home. Monday onwards, we’ll be having carrot cake, new year cake, pineapple tarts, chocolates disguised as money, and all kinds of weird food you only get to indulge in once a year.

I speculate that the ang baos this year would be less than previous years due to the recession period, but perhaps there will be more gambling

There’s going to be food, booze, gambling and all kinds of vices over this New Year period. Can’t wait

The Ride

Have you ever sat in a Limousine before? Well I’m proud to say that I have! Philips ordered a Limousine to pick us up and dropped us off at the event at Scarlet Hotel. I must say they really didn’t hold back on pampering us bloggers!

Limousine parked outside of Scarlet Hotel

The Location

I’ve heard about boutique hotels, but I haven’t actually been into one. When I first heard about Scarlet Hotel, it naturally reminded me of the LG’s Scarlet event I was invited to a couple of months ago. The decor was superb and posh, a small but cozy little gem situated behind Chinatown. Rooms were comfortable and the food served really did tingled my tongue.

The People

Besides getting to interact with other bloggers like IZ, Fidelis, Nadnud that I’m already quite familiar with, I also got acquainted with Andystorm and the dudes from Tech65. L’Oréal was also invited to mingle with us and give us extra beauty tips! I didn’t push for getting my hair done cause my hair’s already so damn short But Sab and a few others got their hair temporarily permed up like barbie. I wanna be barbie too!

We also got to mingle with the people from L’Oréal and Philips, sharing their views about blogging and new media. They were very sincere in listening to our feedbacks and opinions on blogging and hosting blogging events. For the first time, I really felt like bloggers were treated with the same respect as journalists!

The Programme

The night started with a presentation of Philip’s latest technology in television, with sharper images and a cool back panel behind the TV monitor that displays coloured light to provide a better viewing experience

Immerse yourself in a captivating Ambilight experience. Featuring Perfect Pixel HD Engine, this TV combines Perfect Motion Sharpness, 2250 trillion Colours and Perfect Contrast with Ambilight Spectra 2 — lighting up your viewing experience

We were also presented with a blind test for Philips MP3 player inside the Limousine. The blind test experience was quite cool cause of the unique setting. Random people were waving at us inside the Limousine and they probably thought we were some rich and important VIPs inside the Limousine! A photographer from Livestudio was also inside the Limousine with us capturing the moment.

This picture was not taken by the photographer, but by Vanessa I borrowed her camera for the night because I still haven’t gotten a new camera yet

Priss, IZ, Andystorm

Next we had the good people from L’Oréal Singapore demonstrate some of their newest hair curling tools. As I mentioned previously, I didn’t get my hair permed because I’ve got really short hair now. Although, after the entire event was over, I did try to D.I.Y. with the curler. Bad idea to try curling your short fringe, it ended up curling in all directions!!! No pictures for that

Priss and Nadnut hiding behind Esther

I love this picture! Esther looks like a barbie!

We were also given a presentation on Philip’s latest in-ear headphones SHE9850 that costs $179 in retail stores at the moment. The sound quality is really good! Included were interchangable ear pieces from small to large to ensure it’s a comfortable fit even for dumbo (the elephant?) haha… But I’ll still be sticking to my Sennheiser for now, sorry Philips! Philips did however gave us a MP3 player in the goodie bag!!! Also, I received another Philips GoGear LUXE MP3 player to review! So generous of them to pamper us like that!

Andystorm won this sleek and cool headphones for lucky draw!! And the crowd was booing…. because we all wanted it for ourselves!! haha

I’m smiling in this picture just to be polite. We’re all thinking in our heads “WHY NOT ME!!! “

Nice pictures thanks to WIlly Foo and his team of photographers from Livestudio.sg

Overall, I give Philips full marks for their generosity, their sincereity, their efforts in pampering us and making us live like Kings and Queens for one night! Special thanks to Gavin Foo and his team from XPR PR agency and of course my dearest BFF Sab for extending the invitation to me!

The latest news on the China Milk Toxic poisonous milk scandal here in Singapore…

In total 8 products are tested to contain melamine, the toxin that has caused kidney stones and killed a few infants in China

Taken from Channel Newsasia

1. Yi Li Choice Dairy Fruit Bar Yogurt Flavoured Ice Confection

2. Dutch Lady Strawberry Flavoured Milk

3. White Rabbit Creamy Candy

4. Dutch Lady Banana Flavoured Milk

5. Dutch Lady Honeydew Flavoured Milk

6. Silang – House of Steamed Potato – Potato Cracker

7. Puffed Rice Rolls – Butter Corn Flavour

8. Puffed Rice Rolls – Cheese Flavour

It wouldn’t be surprising if the number of China milk infected products increases since so many products uses MILK.

I’ve always suspected that the cows have some kind of conspiracy against humans. Or perhaps, some alien creature planted cows on Earth to slowly torture and kill us all… haha…

Do you know?

1. Over 90% of Asians are lactose intolerant. We can’t digest milk. We get bad bad stomach when we drink milk. The cows are trying to diarrhea us to death! Source: Wikipedia

2. Cows produce harmful methane gases. They are trying to destroy our ozone layer! Source: National Geographic

3. Cows are making themselves to be god! Ok, sorry it’s just a joke, no offense to any Hindus reading this.

So, yeah, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the cows have some kind of conspiracy theory or some revenge plot for us enslaving them, milking them for milk & meat.

BTW, my chinese zodiac sign is OX! I love cows, I love beefs, I just don’t like milk
