I was kindly invited by Geo from Muaythai.sg to attend Madonna’s new album launch Hard Candy at Zouk

Here’s some pictures I found of the girls that fought that night… I can’t remember the names of the first two girls fighting but they were both bleeding by the second bout! I swear they were suppose to be just acting, to showcase how tough Muay Thai girls can fight, but I guess the crowd, adrenaline and music made them go all out! But that’s what we want to see right?

The second fight was between Ann (in pink skirt) and Ashley (in white skirt). Ann Moey was my senior from my secondary school, what a coincidence that she was fighting that night! She still looks so fit and definitely more feminine and pretty now

Both fights ended up in a draw, since, well, it’s suppose to be a friendly amateur fight. However, I felt the negligence of the producers making these pretty girls fight without proper gears and professional training was not a pretty sight. I don’t mean they weren’t trained in Muay Thai, I meant they weren’t pro fighters and they don’t know how to hold back. I can only wonder if they have even fought any amateur fights before this night. I seriously thought they were going to dance around and show some Muay Thai moves, but the effort and seriousness they brought into the ring deserve our applause.

I’ve recorded bout 2 and bout 3 of Ann vs Ashley fight as well… so enjoy

In response to IZ Reloaded’s post on gag order for The Contender Asia show….

Well, I understand how some of you feel that it’s silly for them to do this. But just imagine… if people start announcing the winners before Contender Asia fans get a chance to watch the show… it’s very “shao xing” (spoil mood)

I understand there aren’t many Contender Asia fans in Singapore yet, afterall, Muay Thai is a relatively new sport/martial art in Singapore. That being said, now imagine if the scenario is played out for a Harry Potter story book.

I recalled a few months ago, when Harry Potter’s latest sequel came out, there were some idiots lurking around the internet shoving Harry Potter spoilers to others that haven’t read Harry Potter yet. Imagine if someone got to read the book 3 months before it was published and the spoilers were published in Newspaper, magazines, and on the internet. Everyone would be damn pissed right?

I said “3 months”, because I’ve watched the Contender Asia 3 months ago LIVE at Toa Payoh for many episodes and I’ve known for months that the final was going to be John Wayne Parr and Yodsanklai. (Yes, I signed the gag order too)
So perhaps we shouldn’t be so quick to judge the intentions of the producers of the show. Perhaps announcing the winner would spoil the entertainment of many others. And perhaps many of you can brush this off easily because you’re not really a fan of the show.

Isn’t very sad to know the ending before watching a show or reading a book?

I was told Maia Lee got pregnant with Zidov’s child, and frankly I wasn’t surprised.

After clicking on Ping.sg and reading another blog post about this news and the comments it received, I was surprised.

Why is everyone condemning her so badly instead of congratulating her? Why are we so quick to cast our judgment on her and her decisions? Are we seriously going to give her dirty looks because she slept with another man that is not her husband?

Had Maia gone for an abortion to keep it hush-hush, would people be happier?

But it doesn’t matter what others think. If you live your lives based on the happiness of others, what is your life worth?

Why I wasn’t surprised that Maia Lee’s baby’s father is Zidov…. because I knew that Maia hanged out with the contestants of the Contender Asia. She practices Muay Thai, like myself. I’ve met her a few times during the Contender Asia filming and she was really friendly~ (and she’s got very big beautiful eyes too). So she might have gotten close with Zidov and slept with him, so what? I’m not for casual sex, but I don’t believe in speculating the nature of their sex lives and be so quick to judge that she’s a whore.

How could some people say she’s trying to get attention?! Which part of getting pregnant with a guy you went out with is trying to get attention? Shit happens. Maybe the condom broke. But accusing her of getting pregnant to get attention? Are you crazy or do people have some kind of warped concept that when celebrities get pregnant it’s to gain attention?

The only thing I have to say about Maia being pregnent is… she should have done more about contraception if she did not intend to have a baby. And this advice goes out to all other ladies out there, go have a talk to your doctor about all the different kind of contraceptives there are.

And for the records, Zidov is a hot guy… so the baby should be blessed with good looks

Independent Thoughts:
Men who are on cialis might need to think about weight loss. Many think phentermine good enough for their health. The rest resort to plastic surgery.

For those of you who don’t really know me, I’ve been learning Muay Thai with Combat Academy in Singapore for the past 6 months. I love Muay Thai because it’s stimulating and it helps me keep my body in shape

Some random noobs on the internet asked if I was abused or bullied as a kid when they heard that I learn Muay Thai. The answer is……… NO?! Duh!

I’ve always love sports. Represented my secondary school for dance and track & field and a proud member of my netball club. I’ve danced ballet for most of my life, but stopped ballet since 15. I’ve learnt International Latin dance (Cha Cha, Samba, Rhumba & Jive) for a couple of years, but I found it rather… slow as compared to ballet. I’ve taken some hip hop dance classes but I don’t really enjoy the dance moves that much.

I might be weird, but I found Muay Thai to be the best thing besides ballet. My parents don’t understand how a lady brought up learning ballet, piano and “lady like skills” would take up Muay Thai. It’s simple.

Like ballet, Muay Thai requires Determination, Perseverance, Discipline, Strength, Technique, and most of all – ♥♥ PASSION ♥♥.

The guys at my gym find it odd that I like to stand in front of the mirror to practice shadow boxing. It’s natural to me to practice in front of the mirror, as I have learnt from 10 years of ballet from Sylvia McCully Dance Studio that you have to look at the mirror to see if your form and positioning is right. Some people find it difficult to coordinate your legs when kicking, but to me, it’s like doing a grand battement (a high kick).

Anyway The Contender Asia is now airing on AXN and you can download the show from bit torrent websites like mininova.com if you don’t have AXN. Also, do pop by Contender Asia Fan website for more info about the show.

It’s a really good show, but too bad for you guys…. the show was best viewed when you’re sitting 2 meters away from the ring. Yes, I went for about 5 to 10 Contender Asia shows and it was definitely a BLAST! There were also various celebrities present during the show like Alvin, Pierre Png, Maia Lee (she does Muay Thai), Eunice Olsen and a few others… The highlight was still the Contender fights.. bruises, bloody noses, red patches from getting kicked… ouch!!! The adrenaline rush watching the Contender Asia live was simply so shiok that I actually considered training to fight professionally. That would have required me to train 5 times a week, 4 hours a day. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen because……… I’m afraid of pain

Ah well, I’ll continue practicing Muay Thai, though I haven’t been to lessons for the past 2 weeks because of my new job, I do hope I can continue training in this kick ass form of martial arts – Muay Thai.

BTW, if anyone sees my face in the audience of Contender Asia episodes, please let me know.

So far I only spotted the top of my head in Episode 5 (Soren vs Bruce). Can’t even see my face! My face was covered by another guy

*** I drew this with my tablet and Photoshop CS 2 last December, I’ve cropped the head away because I can’t get the face right. The girl looks ugly ***

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

Chorus from Fort Minor – Remember The Name

I love this song !!
I love punching the punching bag when listening to this song so much. Fucking hell fifty percent pain damn right man ! I love a good work out, even though my muscles start to atrophy and ache like mad… even though so many times I would want to just give up punching the damn bag.. even though my injured ankles hurt so much… I just want to keep going………
someday it will pay off.

I can feel that my tummy is shrinking and my arms are flab-free. VERY SHIOK. Maybe someday this skill will prove to be practical/handy when some perverted old man tries something funny. PUNCH PUNCH and you’ll know what’s pain.

Martial Arts (I learn Muay Thai) is really very empowering. Besides the physical strength and skills you possess after training for hours, weeks, years… it also trains your mental strength to be stronger and in some sense, it’s fulfilling like a religion. And maybe we’re all masochists and sadists, but that five percent pleasure is all worth it !

I attended my first Muay Thai class this evening with Combat Academy. It was great fun ! Ok, I didn’t get to punch anything (punching the air counts as something?), I didn’t get to kick anything (not even the air), and I spent the hour practising the basic stance of moving.

When I first arrived, I was greeted by one of the instructors and was told to do 15 minutes of skipping. “Do you know how to skip?” he asked… “Umm.. It has been many years since I skipped, but yeah” Priss replied… He tossed me a skipping rope, and the 15 minutes of hell began.

15minutes of skipping sounds like childplay, when you are a child. A 22 years old female smoker that haven’t had any exercise in the past 6 months nearly DIED skipping. Skip to my lou, my darling.

Well, Chester and his mother thinks that I’m very fickled and I probably won’t last long in my boxing class. I would like to *think* I might just be able to sustain my interest for boxing. It’s a healthy, exciting, motivational sport that will just make Priss a stronger person =DD

The people at Combat Academy are really friendly and informal. They aren’t too strict with lessons, but give very good and helpful advice to a newbie like me =D Anyone interested in boxing, Muay Thai or Krav Maga (in Singapore) should take up lessons with them. Very professional and they don’t make me feel intimidated or small (cause most of the people there are men with six packs *eeks*). Oh, I didn’t notice if there were any cute guys… But hot blooded passionate youngsters are all cute =)

Anyone interested should just drop by Block 11 TRACOM (the former Police Academy at Thomson Road). The block is just opposite Singapore Polo Club’s entrance. Lessons for boxing and muay thai are on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 7pm … Or just click on their website for more information =)
