UPDATE: I just found proof that Wax In The City and Naughty By Nature are some how related! The web domain of www.waxinthecity.com.sg is registered by Naughty By Nature company! They are both unreliable companies that have been receiving hundreds of CASE complaints since last year!
I’m so mad! I’m writing this blog post on my iPhone while queuing up at CASE.
I went for my online booked appointment for waxing at Wax in the City Orchard Central branch only to be notified by the security guard that the shop has been closed for the past 6 days! I was directed to the management office of Orchard Central and they said they have been trying to contact Wax in the City’s management but they have not been contactable since! The lady told me that I should bring this up with CASE and to file a police report. I even went to UOB to cancel the installment plan for my SG$1000++ package but they told me I couldn’t since they already paid the merchant. I never knew thy installment packages work that way.
BTW ALL OF THEIR BRANCHES HAVE BEEN CLOSED FOR 1 week!!!!
Anyway, I’m so pissed that Wax in the City closed down and just disappeared without any form of notice or any explainations! I was under the impression that this was a reputable company that has a few branches, and business looked good!
I WANT MY MONEY BACK YOU ASSHOLES!!! I’m just a hairy student that needed waxing, not scamming!!!
Hopefully CASE can advice me how I’m going to get my money from this evil money cheating companies!!!

OH.MY.GAWD. I’ve actually been to their Craig Road branch to take a look, cos I was walking by one day, after work and on the way to the MRT station! Sheesh! I’ll walk by later and tell you if I still see it or not, okay?
Other than that, maybe you should quickly file a police report.
I thought their business model was a bit weird, cos they wanted upfront payment of 1K in some “prepaid card” that you supposedly could use for as long as the credit lasts. I remembered the other news story about the spa that closed down, and I wasn’t willing to lock my money in like this, so I didn’t sign up. I’m so glad I didn’t!
I hope you get your money back…!

Just fill up whatever you can, then you can ask the administrator at the small claims tribunal how to fill in the rest.

Found out in the news since last wed 31 Mar 2010 from my friends that WITC closed its doors unexpectedly and i went down to small claims tribunal court at chinatown to file my claim the following day. Imagine is April Fool’s day. OMG!! I suggest u gals go to this website http://app.subcourts.gov.sg/sct/index.aspx. Follow the instructions and get this claim at the small claims tribunal court. Do it fast as i think the people is reeling in. Hopefully can get the money back.
To think that those bunch of Suckers……actually cheated so many ppl. Especially pinoys [Radz] They are really sweet talkers into cooing ppl to buy the package. Boycott their outlets.

I’ve also gone with the same experinced. I’ve also signed the package with wax in the city. Whenever I wanted to take appointment they said that there is no place & they will call back. But never they had called back. & by chance if I got appointment then also I had to wait for an hour there. They are after us till we don’t take their package. After we bought the package they don’t care about the customers. They were just looking for people to sign the package & We were the fool to do so.
I went also to Circular Road for my appointment and was surprised that they are closed! So i googled and found this. Can you let me know how to file this in CASE. Can you update also what happen to your CASE complaint? How will we get our money back?
Please help!

Hi Pooja, read my post http://www.deadpris.com/2010/03/30/filing-case-against-wax-in-the-city-give-me-my-money-back/ and it has the steps for you to file a report against them with Small Claims Tribunals.
So far we can only make a report with SCT and the police. But there are news that more spas are joining this Spa and Wellness alliance to bail us out by offering us their service with our remaining WITC credits. Hopefully things work out some how!

The news report that 13 spas and counting are trying to bail “stranded WITC customers” out
Comment by Priss — April 9, 2010 @ 12:39 pm
[...] The Terms & Conditions are less than favorable for us – such as booking during off-peak periods and no switching of spas, however, if we can chose a spa that matches our expectation, location, prices etc. I think we can still make the best out of this situation. I would have hoped the web designer or SBWA did many things different to their site, for example, making the T&C downloadable off their website, making it html based instead of fully flash website etc. I guess with the time limit that SBWA promised to deliver this option to us, can’t demand too much from them either. If I sound sad writing this blog post, it’s because I am. I do feel like we’re being treated like 2nd class citizens, but then again, beggars can’t be choosers. Why are we even in this predicament? Blame Alexis Zhou and the people of Wax In The City. [...]
