I attended a beauty seminar held at Paragon Medical Centre by Dr. Z from Z Medical Aesthetics. Dr. Z explained to us why fillers like Juvederm® and Botox® are becoming more popular amongst women nowadays. The cost of “fixing” one area of your face costs about $900 for a temporary fix that lasts from 4 months to 1 year depending on the area for fillers and 4 months for Botox®.
Juvederm® Fillers, being self-explanatory, fills up areas of your face e.g. nose, cheeks, lifting certain areas of your face up to prevent having any saggy baggage. While Botox®, as most of you would know, can help to contour jawline and remove wrinkles. Dr. Z assured us that he tries to use these injections minimally to help create a beautiful new look without looking too plastic or fake. Some people looks great with a little wrinkle around the eyes and forehead, so please don’t go plastic your face like a barbie doll letting everyone know it’s all fake. In Singapore and in some countries, plastic surgery still comes with some stigma, so doing too much surgery to your face actually makes it less appealing.
With temporary injections, you don’t have to worry about not looking good with your new face. Fillers are reversible, and if you really prefer to have more wrinkles on your face, then you’ll just have to wait 4 months to get back your wrinkly face :p The stuff they inject into your face for are made from hylauronic acid, which is a kind of acid that is naturally found in our body, so it is minimally intrusive.
Two bloggers that were invited for a demonstration feedbacked that they loved their new features, one said it was relatively painless while kisscakee feedback that it hurts but it’s so worth it! The results were instant! Dr. Z mentioned that the swelling and effects from Botox® would be more obvious after 2 weeks. But they looked really great just minutes after the injections! There is practically no down time!

I’m often horrified at the how acceptable it is for Asian women to change their appearance. The results are never as good as the original nose or face.
Asian women are gorgeous just the way they are. They don’t need to change their appearance. It never looks real anyways. Even those horrifying big-eye contacts or color-contacts just end up making them look like Zombies.
I wish the magazines and media would stop pushing images of western looking women on Asians. It’s unrealistic and unobtainable.
