on Jul 10th, 2009I came into close contact with H1N1
My friend have been tested positive of H1N1 swine flu virus.
I am quite worried that I might get it myself, but it has been 4 days since I came in contact with him, so I have decided to self quarantine myself at home for the next 3 days to monitor my health. This means I won’t be able to go out shopping or dinners for the next few days!
The previous post where I questioned Singapore government’s move of not quarantining people and stop counting the number of infected patients drawn a few response siding the government’s decisions. I understand that it is not practical for the government to quarantine a large number of people, but I do hope that employers are lenient enough to excuse some people to self-quarantine. Afterall, from past experience working in an air-conditioned office, viruses are VERY easily spread in the office place. There have been occasions in my previous job, whereby half the department have to take medical leave because of some nasty virus that spread in the office.
My heart goes out to those working in the healthcare and educational industry, where the nature of their job is to deal with huge number of people on a daily basis, making them at higher risk of getting the virus.
I just hope that I don’t have H1N1 and didn’t spread to anyone in the last few days. Thank goodness that my family went on a short trip to Malaysia today, so it would lessen the risk of them getting infected from me.
