WCG Singapore 2009 is just around the corner, with prelimineries starting in June at Safra and Funan, however not much information is available to us, the gamers. It is quite sad that we have to rely on websites such as http://multiplay.lowyat.net and http://gamesync.net to get updated information. Only recent few days did the WCG Singapore website finally came up, but not all information are available to public yet.

Here’s some insider info I got from the Prince of Malaysia :

WCG Game Haven 5 to 7 June 2009

WCG Suntec National Finals 3 to 5 July 2009

Left 4 Dead (2 seeded teams from Game Haven & Funan prelims)
Team Fortress 2 (1 seeded team from Game Haven)
Counterstrike 1.6 (2 seeded teams from Game Haven & WCG ‘08)

Prizes for L4D & CS 1.6: 1st S$3,000.00, 2nd S$2,000.00, 3rd S$1,000.00

Prizes for TF2: 1st S$2,000.00, 2nd S$1,000.00, 3rd S$500.00

Format: Single elimination

Participation: Open except for CS 1.6 (SG only)

Sorry I only got information for TF2, L4D and CS 1.6… I’m sure more information will be out on the website soon

I find it quite weird why Game Haven will be charging registration fee to play in their venue for the WCG, moreover, the prize money for the prelims is so little I’m sure many teams will still sign up to gain more experience before the WCG Finals

SAFRA or Game Haven member: S$5 per person (NOT team)
Non-members: S$15 per person (inclusive of one year Game Haven membership)
