on Feb 19th, 2009Jamie Yeo & Glenn Ong DIVORCED?
Just a couple of weeks ago, I was blogging about how “average” Jamie Yeo is statistically wise, as compared to the average Singaporean, in terms of her masturbating since 6 years old, lost her virginity at 18, then got married at 27. I was telling others not to judge her, because she is like EVERYONE else. If you don’t fit her profile in terms of the age of statistics, then you’re the weird one, not her.
Now, here comes the kicker. She’s getting divorced at age 32!
Among male divorcees in 2007, those aged 35-44 years formed the largest proportion. For female divorcees, the largest group was aged 25-34 years. For both males and females, there were large increases in the proportion of divorcees aged 45 years and over in the last decade.
Taken from Singapore Statistics website, a full 100+ page on Singapore’s marriage and divorce statistics of 2007. It’s a pdf file, so feel free to download it if you’re interested.

I’m not celebrating her divorce, nooooo. It sucks to get out of any relationship. I was just telling my friend the other day, how over the past 2 to 3 months, so many people around me seem to be breaking up. It seems like 2009 is the year to start afresh! Jamie and Glenn, even though you guys may not be with each other anymore, I’m sure you’ll find your own happiness. I hope I will somehow find mine too.
I wonder if this statistics thing I plucked out of thin air, initially in support of Jamie’s choices, some how cursed her to get divorced.
The official statement was that they have been separated for a while now, and decided only to announce it last week. Yeah, I’m slow reporting this because I’ve been loaded with work and school work. As you can see, I won’t make a very good tabloid journalist because I’m always lagging behind the news :~(

MediaCorp subsequently announced that the couple had “grown apart in recent years due to their careers and individual differences”. The decision was a “mutual” and “amicable” one.
Ong and Yeo have officially filed for separation and have been “living apart for a while”.
God bless all the single people out there. <3 <3 <3
