on Jan 30th, 2009Party ends before it even begins? [Assocation of Bloggers SG]
I’m sure many of you are as shocked on hearing the news that a few ABS members have stepped down! Association of Bloggers (Singapore), or ABS, launched just a week ago, inviting many criticism, detractors, insults and naysayers. Even I was quite doubtful of the purpose of this association, but I thought given some time, they might be able to answer some of these tough questions posed by bloggers.

I had already said so earlier on – I will step down after I had done what I should do as this is a protem committee after all. And so I am doing so to spend more time with my family and new work projects.

I take my leave from protem committee of ABS. Hence forth, I shall be concentrating on my studies, the bloody assignments, and tech65.

I have stepped down from the association and will no longer be handling any issues pertaining to the progress with immediate effect.
Before anyone jump to conclusions that the criticism is too strong, it is a decision made based on internal issues rather than the initial. Hope that will clear up some potential speculations. That’s to say, speculations are totally anticipated.
And from this source… Paddy Tan stepped down too, although his plurk time line is set to private so I’m unable to view…
Firstly, mrendoh is right that there will be many speculations as to why FOUR out of TEN members have suddenly stepped down on the same day. Obviously there have been internal conflicts, but they also contribute it to the lack of time. I’m sure the “I have no time” excuse works for many cases, but I don’t think it will work very well in this scenario. Hmm.
Next, what’s this “protem committee” they speak of? I did a check on dictionary.com and pro tem is legal short form for pro tempore, which means, ‘temporarily’ or ‘for the time being’. I’m not too sure as to why the committee is made up of temporary officers, directors and presidents? Maybe it’s a normal thing in associations or corporations for “protem committees” to exist, but it didn’t make much sense to me. What do I know, I’ve had less than a year of actual working experience. I r noob.
I’m not sure who’s next to leave, but it seems the problems around this association isn’t going to stop here. I might be wrong. Let’s read the fortune book for the Ox year to find out more!
Update 30/01/2009: DK resigned too! So did Jacelyn aka Daintyflair !
The count is now at FOUR out of TEN members left. I guess the party has really ended.
