Good news to all, there are more clinics in Singapore offering anonymous HIV testing starting this month.
Good news to all, because even if you’re not at-risk for HIV, by encouraging more people to go for HIV testing, there will be a less likely chance of you or your partner getting infected with this horrible disease.
I’m only wondering why we didn’t implement this earlier. After all, by lowering the age of legal abortion without parental consent to 14 years old in Singapore, it has encouraged more girls to go for legal abortion than black market abortion which threatens the life of many young girls.
To encourage more at-risk individuals to go for early HIV testing, MOH is adding four private clinics to its current list of anonymous HIV testing clinics. These clinics will offer anonymous testing from Saturday, November 1.
The four new GP clinics are Dr Jay Medical Centre at 115 Killiney Road, Dr Soh Family Clinic at Block 966 Jurong West St 93, M Lam Clinic at 739 Geylang Road and Robertson Medical Practice at Robertson Walk.

Also, more information for HIV testing can be found at Action for Aids Singapore website which gives you intructions, directions, cost etc.
So if you are at-risk for HIV, do yourself and your family and the society a favour, go for a HIV check-up. The test is less than SG$50 so it’s definitely worth it.

Totally agree with you on this! One reason that people do not test for HIV (or opting out of the auto-testing now) , is because there is absolutely no incentive for them to. If you are negative, then no point testing. If you are positive, you will lose your job, you screw up your family, you have to pay for treatments $1000 a month, no one helps you, you die. Why should anyone want to test? For most other diseases eg cancer screening, heart disease screening, you test because you CAN get treated (direct subsidies or Medishield coverage) when you test positive. Not so for HIV. Really sad.
“After all, by lowering the age of legal abortion without parental consent to 14 years old in Singapore, it has encouraged more girls to go for legal abortion than black market abortion which threatens the life of many young girls” Actually, in Singapore there is no age limit, and girls of all ages can get an abortion without parental consent. For the exact reason you pointed out.
Unfortunately, because many girls under 16 are afraid of getting their boyfriends into jail, they try to treat their own STIs, or DIY abortion, and go to the doctor in the late stage where complications are more likely.
Thanks for bringing awareness to everyone!=)
