I tagged along with my boyfriend for the SPORE launch at Funan, like many other girls in the queue, we love geeky guys 
I suppose many girls there, are gamers themselves. By gamers, I mean those that played Sims and other less aggressive games I guess? We reached at about 9.15am and there was a small queue forming already!
Most people there played with their Nintendo DS lite or PSP, I spotted a couple of geeky geeks reading Pratchet and Starwars, and then there are those like me and my boyfriend - we sit there do nothing! Haha
Well, we received lots of cute goodies from the SPORE launch such as the cute yellow laptop cover, the super funky T-shirts and some other items… See, I was never a fan of Sims or Sims 2 or any of the Sims expansions. I like First Person Shooter games like Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Team Fortress 2 etc., and MMORPGs. I don’t like RPG games simply because it’s such a headache to explore some unknown linear world. I expected SPORE to be very similar to Sims - the part that I don’t enjoy. Boy was I wrong!!
SPORE starts you off as a little round ball of organism, either herbivore, carnivore or omnivore. You start off by eating algae or pieces of meat in the sea depending on what mouth you chose! Every time you activate the mating call and find someone to mate, you EVOLVE! You can customize your evolution by choosing the different kinds of feet, wings, mouth, eyes, hands, offensive and defensive body parts. Everything is customizable! You can select how your little monster alien look by adjusting the size, width, length, angle of all your body parts!
This game appeals to both girls and guys because you can chose to focus your character to be Herbivorous and socialise with creatures from other tribes by dancing, singing and making merry; or you could Carnivorous and attempt to extinct all other species by attacking them and feeding on them. You could also be omnivorous, but I haven’t played that far yet.
Though I’ve only played for a few hours so far, it’s really intriguing, the graphics and animation of the customized creatures are very well developed, I’m just hoping this game will proceed to more interesting scenarios and I can’t wait to discover how the game play would become at higher levels!! >,<
