on Jun 4th, 2008Don’t blog about your work! [Reaction to SIA blogger]
Shouldn’t it be obvious that people shouldn’t use blogs as private diaries? Once you post something in your blog, it’s for the world to see. If you really need to type your diaries instead of writing them the conventional way, then type your diaries into notepad text files and save it in your computer.
Lately, there have been quite a few scandals and criticisms on what is posted on people’s personal blogs. Yes, a blog is a medium whereby ‘commoners’ like me and you can act out our inner fantasies of being a journalist or even a tabloid magazine writer, or perhaps to an extend, an online biography of yourself
But blogging about your family or your work or even friends is just plain insensitive and inconsiderate.
Read here and here for some news about this SIA stewardess blogging about her work, her passengers and her affair with a married pilot.
Why people shouldn’t blog about their work:
1. Blogging ANYTHING that casts your company in a bad light is disloyal and to a more serious extent, treacherous.
2. Blogging about your clients/customers is very unprofessional.
3. Blogging about your co-workers is worse than point 2, because you never know who’s reading your blog. Creating more backstabbing publicly would cause more unhappiness at work and possibly affect the morale of your colleagues. Not to mention, no one would trust you with their secrets at work incase you blog about it.
4. Blogging about your boss is simply stupid. Your boss should fire you for that.
5. Disclosing private and confidential information about your clients, co-workers, boss, HR, cleaning aunty, is simply rude and disloyal.
6. Disclosing your companies’ secrets should/might warrant you a lawsuit.
If you really need an outlet to relief your stress, work place gossips, complaints… go whine at your girlfriend/ boyfriend/ teddy bear. Don’t wash your dirty laundry in public and risk getting sacked, in other words, don’t be stupid.

I agree, look at this chap here. Bohtong is actually a person by the name of Luke Tan SS who was part of the CCE team who were got rid of during the sar period.
CCE stands for Cabin Crew Executive. This group of highly paid employees were responsible for training our future flight attendants. However in real, the SIA management knew these group of employees were overpaid and deemed to be extra in the company and that’s how they invented the famous golden handsake which was more like a ‘dismissal’ to the entire group. They were sold on the situation that SIA is going to retrench many employees and it would take a long long time for SIA to return to it’s usual commercial capability.
What happened was SIA recovered within 3 months and these former CCE were felt cheated and eyesore looking at how SIA had done them in. From a reliable source, their pay was SGD$6K a month for nothing more than flying around with crews and appraising them. They got a payout of $100k or something along that line and realised after they had made a mistake in believing SIA.
So a couple of them started going around badmouthing SIA and disclosing some confidential information online and SIA even threatened to sue them. Bohtong had remained anonymous and he had complied with SIA to remove any materials on his blog that is confidential to the company. But what happened was there is another person by the name of Luke Tan SS who go around soliciting services for lessons to help them to get through SIA’s interview for flight attendants.
Now nothing wrong with that except that someone had exposed Luke Tan SS to be the character bohtong who according to his stories in his blog is a bully during his time as a CCE by trading favours for good appraisals. What happen is Luke Tan created numerous blogs and creating all kind of fictional characters and starts writing stories distinct to that character. One of them is this lady by the name of Beh who previously was blogging at behtong.blogspot.com. He had created at least 10 characters and he was exposed by someone here http://all-the-bohtong-blogs.blogspot.com/
Now becareful of this gentleman, because according to his blog, and the things he wrote under the disguise of those characters, he is a very dangerous man where he prey on young ladies and his latest attempt to give lessons to ladies who wanted to get into SIA needs to be really careful when they go to his house because this man will try.
Remember him, Luke Tan SS and his blog is here http://excce.blogspot.com/
What about putting up numbers of people you are unhappy with and inviting others to prank call them? LOL
yea.. its not right to do that.. if really want to release it in blogs.. just create a new one without using real name.. and never ever let others know you own that blog.. use anonymous or fake name to describe that person as well.. but everything i mentioned, seriously i dont encourage.. backstabbing is not a good thing after all.. next time really want to release your anger or stress.. try to write it on a paper.. then tear it.. and shout to it never ever come back to you again!! (seems ridiculous and stupid.. and i dont know whether it works or not.. but at least better than doing it on blogs..) hee.. peace.. =)
Hi my dear!
Sorry to hear that u disagree with the things i blogged but don’t have to tell the whole world about it…hehe
btw can u tell me how much is it to buy your own domain and server for like this blog of yours.think i don’t want to use blogspot but instead use .com like yours. Thanks and pls email me the answers.
The person who commented as “Bantong” is a dubious charater out to assasinate people’s character. Here he complains or bad mouth me and Luke and at the same time this is what he posted in his blogs:
http://the-bohtong-blogs.blogspot.com
http://keong161.vox.com
Bantong is envious of what me and Luke has accomplished. He is a retired senior crew who does not have the ability to do anything constructive but tries to run people down.
Don’t ever believe whatever he had said above.Ask yourself why is he so bitter against me and Luke? He has a personal agenda against ex sia cabin crew executive.
[...] is a blog about work. No, not one of those blogs about work that spread gossip and thus are warned against from many corners of the Internet. (Sorry ) When done right, a blog about work does wonders [...]
wow..
did a search on SIA and got ur blog too. heh. nice!
It’s interesting to see all the comments here and I agree with many of your points. Have to be careful!
As an add-on, SIA’s contract states that weblogs are sensitive and any information about the company is discouraged. yupz! So indeed, it says in the contract that an employee can get fired for false statements on his/her blog!
