on May 1st, 2008Hot SG female fighters @ Hard Candy Launch Zouk [Pictures]

I was kindly invited by Geo from Muaythai.sg to attend Madonna’s new album launch Hard Candy at Zouk

Here’s some pictures I found of the girls that fought that night… I can’t remember the names of the first two girls fighting but they were both bleeding by the second bout! I swear they were suppose to be just acting, to showcase how tough Muay Thai girls can fight, but I guess the crowd, adrenaline and music made them go all out! But that’s what we want to see right? :)

The second fight was between Ann (in pink skirt) and Ashley (in white skirt). Ann Moey was my senior from my secondary school, what a coincidence that she was fighting that night! She still looks so fit and definitely more feminine and pretty now :)

Both fights ended up in a draw, since, well, it’s suppose to be a friendly amateur fight. However, I felt the negligence of the producers making these pretty girls fight without proper gears and professional training was not a pretty sight. I don’t mean they weren’t trained in Muay Thai, I meant they weren’t pro fighters and they don’t know how to hold back. I can only wonder if they have even fought any amateur fights before this night. I seriously thought they were going to dance around and show some Muay Thai moves, but the effort and seriousness they brought into the ring deserve our applause.

I’ve recorded bout 2 and bout 3 of Ann vs Ashley fight as well… so enjoy :)

Yeah, maybe the bleeding from the 1st fight was accidental.

From your clips (which is appreciated), the 2nd fight is quite lembik. Ashley is more aggressive, initiating most of the kicks, mostly in the form of kicks. Although most of the kicks is quite lembik. In a real fight, Ann would have just easily grabbed and locked Ashley’s leg. She even tried to do a spinning back kick (but half-heartedly). Can see no force at all in the kicks. So indeed they might be holding back after all. Ann’s tries to be more technical and land some accurate punches, and even made at least one fantastic duck away from Ashley’s punch.

But in the end, quite boring lah.

No wonder men’s fights get top billing.
