I am more inclined to believe that homosexuals are influenced by environment, and perhaps “traumatic” events. IMO, A varying degree of “freedom” to choose to be influenced applies.

While I find “gay-bashing” distasteful, I also understand that people do tend to overreact to things they don’t consider normal. In a way, its unavoidable since homosexuality not only violates social norms, but defies nature as well. Most religious views frown upon homosexuality as well.

Unfortunately, and perhaps rightly so, known homosexuals are prevented from being hired into sensitive positions, such as teaching. This further reinforces that the popular belief is that homosexuals become what they are, due to influence rather than genetic make-up.

Yes, “gay-bashing” is wrong. But unfortunately, there are penalties for being against the social norm. It is unavoidable, until society chooses to accept & condone homosexuality. However, do not expect that to happen in Singapore as it is a rather conservative society.

Why don’t you just come right out and say what kind of evidence would convince you that homosexuality is not a mental illness? Or perhaps there is none that will and telling them to you is as you say, pointless. Perhaps no matter how much evidences run contrary to your belief, you’ll simply disregard them by asserting that they were manipulated by invisible hands that have an agenda.

As mentioned above, findings about whether homosexuality is an inherited trait remains inconclusive. If you will, that is the truth we have for now. Inconclusive. For Shadowfox to, as if with lots of support, assert otherwise, would be dishonest, if not lying.

I don’t think that gay-bashing is only an opinion. Thank goodness situation isn’t as bad as in America yet, where gay-bashers literally go around bashing gays. But spreading his ideas of gay-bashing may influence others. Shadowfox claims that he’s only joking when he makes those remarks, but it’s not a joke when a group is targeted and labeled.

If you feel that you can allow such hate inciters in your domain and find proposition to ban him funny, it’s your call.

I targeted him because he’s a bigot and he’s inciting hate to a particular group of people. I will stand up for any other groups that are being targeted at, in the same fashion as in this instance.

There ARE other blogs out there, that are in the debate of homosexuality, but they are trying to bring a point across and not inciting discrimination and hate towards homosexuals.
