on Apr 15th, 2008A vote to ban ShadowFox from Ping.sg

I, deadpris.com, am officially casting a vote to remove blogger, ShadowFox, from Ping.sg

He is using the community platform, Ping.sg, to manipulate and distort and propagade views of anti-homosexuality. Don’t give me the bullshit on freedom of speech, this IS Singapore and we have very little freedom of speech here in any case. And, we do not tolerate discrimination here.

Targeting a minority group, quoting websites that are obviously anti-gay and dubious “research data” to promote his agenda of how gays are “abnormal” and how “God hates fags”, honestly, we cannot expose this insensitive moron’s shit to the public, and especially, not in a friendly community such as Ping.sg

This guy isn’t even from Singapore, he’s from Malaysia (from what I gathered on his blog). Using Ping.sg to gather more readers for his anti-homosexual agenda is plain disgusting and repulsive because Ping.sg is essentially giving him a voice to promote hatred for the homosexual community.

I beseech Uzyn to remove this blog from Ping.sg so as to keep the integrity of the community.

What next? Are we going to allow crazy religious hate groups to be Ping-ed ? Do we seriously want to go down this slippery slope? Do we want readers of Ping.sg (many of whom are still young and have not formed serious opinions of the world) to be brainwashed by non-factual researches and words of hatred and discrimination?

Here are some answers to some objections I may potentially receive:

Yes, I can simply click on the “Hate” button and remove ShadowFox from my list of Ping.sg. But it does not change the point that there might be others out there that are susceptible to his brainwashing and take him seriously (he shouldn’t be taken seriously).

Yes, he has every right to blog about whatever he damn please. Uzyn has every damn right to remove any user from his website.

Yes, I know there are people out there that are homophobic, fine. The line is crossed when someone blatantly tells lies and discriminate against another group of people and infringe upon their rights as fellow human beings. You can go be a homophobic for all I care, you don’t have to “spread the words” of how homosexuals deserves to be crucified.

And to clarify, homosexuality IS NOT a mental disease (it used to be classified as a mental disorder many years ago). There is NO PROOF that homosexuality is a choice and not a genetic one. Homosexuals ARE HUMANS TOO.

One more point, his blog has been flagged by blogger.com to be of “OBJECTIONAL CONTENT”. How far can we tolerate this arsehole?

You don’t have to be pro-gay to vote to ban Shadowfox from Ping.sg, you just have to be humane and tolerating and understanding.

If there is a poll, where is it?

Ping.sg is not bound to accept posts of all content, kept this guy out of here.

Dont like his blog? Dont read, dont need to pick a fight in ping.sg. This has nothing to do with ping.sg and uzyn, dont pull them into this mud you created.

    BAN!!!!

Never bothered taking a second look at his blog. In fact, never took the first look to begin with.

I don’t agree with “Uzyn has every damn right to remove any user from his website.”

He can do it of course. But “every damn right” sound just a little too bias.

I just ignored him on my “mybloglog” and Ping la.
I suppose banning can only do so much. He can go on to create new accounts.
    Spammers get tired after awhile.
    Just let it be.
If we can laugh at Steven Lim, we can laugh at him.
    No harm done.
He is positing from his religious point of view.
Maybe we can ask him to talk about all other stuff that his beliefs look down on, like adultery, abortion etc.

Do you know that you are bringing more attention to his blog?

Why not just leave him alone? We are old to decide what info to trust and what not to. Right?

I have Shadowfox on my RSS for a long time and I have never liked his vitriol or venomous comments. I had repeatedly considered just wiping him from my RSS for good. However, everytime I had left him there because more often than not I come across postings at the other end of the spectrum, so in a way Shadowfox becomes refreshing and even at times, entertainment.

Personally, all I have to say is, if you don’t like their comments, you can poof it or even [-] (hate) the blog. But you have no right whatsoever to deny everyone else the right to view his blog / listen to his comments by justifying as Uzyn’s undisputed rights to ban him.

On top of that, I hope you will refrain from calling those who disagree with you as morons, be it on a new blog post or in the shoutbox. Calling a part of your audience names will never win them to your side.

Finally, all I have to say is, to call for tolerance in this display of intolerance is not going to lead you anywhere.

Those people who ask deadpriss to get a life should get a life themselves. I find it ironic that people come in to tell deadpriss that ShadowFox has a right to post whatever he wants, and then seemingly judge deadpriss by the same way ShadowFox was judged.

In my opinion, I think ShadowFox’s blog post is a piece of shit. On one glance it seems biased against gays. I don’t think Uzyn should ban him, though he has the right to, considering that this is his start up.

But then again, when will we find that enough is enough? That one day some religious extremist will blog about the cleansing of Chinese in Singapore?

I guess if the gays find the blog offensive, then there is a problem. Whether people are gays or not, they have feelings and there is really no point in trying to ostracize them.

You sound exactly like the government when they want to limit information and debate: quoting rationale like going down a slippery slope, protecting the young and people who haven’t formed opinions from being brainwashed. Are you Chua Lee Hoong? Get a life! You don’t like what Shadowfox is saying (and I’m not too hot about him either), debate it in the open. Don’t be like the government.

Well, we can’t stop people from writing what they want on their blog. Even if ping.sg bans him, there are other avenues for him to ‘express’ his hatred if he had wanted to.

Anyway, what we can do now is to stop driving more traffic to his blog so that ‘ignorant’ readers won’t be brainwashed…

Take care, there are better things to do than to get angry over things like that.

set up a poof police blog..lol..xizor can do that..then everytime we will go to the blog and find objectional content and poof it..lol..joke..

    It’s just an opinion.

How is the opinion of anti-gay so different from saying “this restaurant sucks” or “this poll sucks”?

  18. 4quartzon 16 Apr 2008 at 4:02 am

the strongest weapon against a bad idea is better ideas.
if you think are right, do state clearly and coherently why.

and the rest of us, young (and old)
    ones and twos,
    can decide for ourselves,
    we all can choose.

not a flame war, but a well intentioned debate.
not a dissing, but a properly structured argument.
not emotionally charged, but rationally considered.

    for in ignorance, we suffer
    in blindness, we stumble
    without understanding one another.

    do tell,
    good man,
    let me know you well,
    to call you friend.

  19. Prisson 16 Apr 2008 at 8:11 am

If I think I’m right that this guy is a bigot? Do you really need proof to show that someone is a bully and calling for actions taken against gay people? The proof is all in his blog, then.

Is this a flame war? This is a vote to ban him. If others do not agree with my opinion that he should be banned, it’s not my business either.
