***UPDATED****

Pingsters have clicked on the link and verified that it isn’t a malware.
Avast anti-virus is just too sensitive. Too sensitive is better than not sensitive right? =)

pingvirus

Click on the thumb nail above to see the screen shot I took from my Avast anti-virus log file. I should have took a screen shot when the anti-virus popped up an alert to warn me.

middle part was editted because it caused unhappy people

On a side note, my friend Swordplay gave me a link to Hello Kitty MMORPG online game… it’s currently in beta. I’ve already signed up for the beta testing and I hope I get to test this cutesy new MMORPG!

  1. How can a few lines of HTML contain virus?
Just go to the link directly and do learn what a virus is.

  2. First thing you should do is to check your hosts file.
    notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Is there any entry with ping.sg ?

Look at your virus scanner, find out what is the cause. A virus/spyware might inject ping.sg website with virus, therefore, the blame is on ping.sg

    :)

  3. In response to uzyn, indeed you are correct. A few lines of HTML does not contain a virus. BUT when a HTML file is binded with Malware or intentionally embedded with Malware, then even a HTML file is not safe.

Most likely, I think that it might most prob be a false alarm. Since my anti-virus did not pick up anything from ping.sg so far.

Instead of you boycotting Ping.sg, why not email the admin in regards to this issue?

  5. Hi Priss,

It would be best if you emailed Uzyn to get this checked out rather then cause any possible misunderstanding by blogging about it.

But thanks for raising your concerns!
