on Jan 23rd, 2008Prudential Makes You Pay If You Break Contract :(

After the JobsDB fair, I caught up with Luke, my ex-classmate, and we talked mainly about our job seeking adventures ordeal.

Luke has been applying only for PR (Public Relations) jobs, I’m not sure why, but probably because he writes well. I’ve considering applying for PR jobs, but I never studied journalism before and maybe I’m not confident in delivering professional standard articles. Oh well.

When I told Luke about the Management Trainee job I was offered by the insurance company, he immediately noticed that something was wrong. He then told me of this story about his best friend that resigned from Prudential and had to repay SG$5000+ to the company. His friend had a one-year contract with Prudential, but he left after six-months when he realised that he wasn’t a good salesmen and could not earn money by selling insurance.

I’m not sure how these insurance company’s contracts works, but I will never sign any contract that bonds me to an insurance company.
