on Jan 2nd, 2008new year eve - monopoly

It’s the end of 2007. It’s also my sister’s birthday but she’s celebrating her birthday in HongKong. Happy Birthday Pat !!

I guess this year have been a very fruitful year. I’ve finally graduated and I’m soon going to lead a boring adult life, or so they told me. I guess experiencing all the love, hate, angst, adventures, depression, crazy times, happy times… all these are part and parcel of life. I’m glad I can say that I have little regrets, infact, one might say 2007 was a pretty “boring” year for Priss!~ Which is good. A colorful life would mean there were ups and downs, and luckily for me, there weren’t many ups nor downs.

Since my family is on a one month vacation in HongKong, I spent my New Year Eve with my boyfriend’s family. On the whole, we had a sumptuous barbecue, with delicious delicacies like ‘Kuay Pie Ti’ and ‘Popiah’ and of course satay. I made my first Kuay Pie Ti there! It’s silly because it uses similar ingredients as Popiah, but I prefer Kuay Pie Ti because the crunchy crust complements the soft carrot fillings.

After the barbecue, the uncles and aunties sat around and talked while the ‘younger generation’ gathered around the coffee table playing monopoly. The monopoly set they had was a disney version and the figurines used as each player’s markers were little disney characters - very quaint. I think most of us were bullying Natalie into selling us her properties because she’s a very nice girl. Hah. I guess in monopoly and in life, when you’re nice, people like to make use of you. But of course, it was just a harmless game of monopoly, it’s nice to be nice. I guess since we were playing amongst relatives (my boyfriend’s cousins), no one wanted anyone to go bankrupt or be upset on New Years Eve, so when someone landed on a really expensive hotel property, we would give discount or form alliances.
