on Dec 15th, 2007I’m telling “The Truth”
Hmm. Yes I see the world as something indefinable, infinitely amazing, ever changing and growing. Truth does not exist, for truth is defined by us, and we don’t even know if we are truths, or rather the truths of ourselves. Even with the advancement of technology, exponentially rising, we still do not know everything about us nor the universe, how can we be sure then what we know is totally true. Truth is always relative to oneself, or a society, like how we define morals.
Maybe its due to my Philosophy classes in school that I’m so skeptical, but the logics part we study in Philosophy taught me this:
P1. If we do not know the truths about every single thing there is to know, we can never be sure when a “truth” finding can lead us to new “truths”.
P2. If new “truths” can be formulated with new findings of other truths, then there will always be new “truths” until there isn’t any more “truths” to find.
P3. If the “truths” we know can be rejected, then there is not truths at all.
P4. We can never know everything there is to know, unless humans are omniscient.
Conclusion. There are no truths. (IT’S ALL A LIE!!! I”M TELLING THE TRUTH!!!)
That’s my first attempt in standard form arguement. P1. just means ‘Premise 1′. Feel free to refute my stand.
You scored as Postmodernist. Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.
